In my opinion, gang violence 20 years ago was far worse than today; however, murders rates are definitely rising these past two years compared to the 5 years before that. In Pittsburgh there was 46 murders in 2013, so far this year Pittsburgh has 44.

Chicago and Detroit do not agree.

My hometown just made the top ten most gang infest cities in America. It is not getting better.
