All of this crap where people claim to be part of anything but a uniquely American culture damage that combination. That goes for every fool who claims they are Irish-American, Italian-American, or anything else.
I can agree, but it maybe irreparable. There has always been a culture war brewing here. (culture war isn't the best term)

Could that be the uniquely American culture? The fact that nobody wants one?

I think full integration is against human nature. We like to stick together with those we think are like us, right or wrong.

I'm Italian and it's American blood that runs through my veins. If I thought blood from a different continent or country was being pumped through me then I'm in the wrong place. She made a statement that would be considered racist if it had been made by a gringo.

I agree, but the moving goalpost in all of this is: What do we find to be "like us"?
Could be race, but that's less and less of the case everyday. America becoming more class conscious is making income a segregational reason. As we're becoming less and less religious, immigrants assimilate more and more, and people from the "old days" die off more and more, class is going to be an even bigger factor.

No. Because white people talk about Irish, Italian, German, Spanish, etc blood going through their veins everyday. Even Reagan described going to Ireland as "Coming home after a long journey" and "What unites us is our shared heritage".

I wish I had numbers to back up my hunch, but I disagree. I'll say that we are splitting more based on class, which has some racial components, but not race itself.

HeartofDixie is correct. We are in the beginning stages of balkanization. That will eventually lead to a breakup of the union.

Eric Holder has his people, Moochelle has her African blood, Obama has the son he never had. Has this administration forgotten who they represent?

I think in certain parts of the nation this is true, especially the South, which is split entirely around economic lines that happen to mirror racial ones.
Still, you look at large American cities and the split occurs around a number of different lines.

So since colored man can't be white although Michael Jackson tried his best become one. And countless "African" females are straightening their hair and bleaching it blonde to become anything but what they are. Now we are to make adjustments for their Social and income status? Wow!

Since you support the breakup of the union, you must be preparing your party hat.
Since you clearly misread that statement, you should probably go back and read it again.
I do not support the breakup of our nation, but the left has already broken up our nation.
Whether you want to believe it or not, balkanization will inevitably be our demise, and the left wing multiculturalists are to blame.

Good question. It does seem like the mainstream majority and what they want has been left out. Ignored even.
