You've got NBC listed twice, but don't have my personal #1: CBS. ABC/ESPN is close behind them. Fox and NBC have a long way to go by comparison.

Easily CBS (not listed) for game coverage...ESPN pre-game. FOX is awful...does not capture the college atmosphere at all.

CBS does a really nice job. Fox's BTN outfit does a good job. ESPN in terms of the picture quality and camera work/angles does an excellent job and admittedly I enjoy Gameday.

Nothing is worst than the ESPN2 "B" team headlined by Pam Ward sound alike Beth Mowins and her partner Joey Galloway. Buts its not the announcers. Its like ESPN just decided to dump all their dead weight on one production team. The graphics are bad. The stats are bad. The entire production is bad.

I am sure Fox is better now, but I remember back in 2009 when they only did the BCS games and no other college games and boy they were awful. Their BCS broadcasts were some of the worst productions I have seen.

When we talk FOX, are we talking standard FOX network or FOX-Sports1?

FOXS1 blew the picture quality of ESPN for CFB out of the water... Side by side pictures the differences were astounding.

CBS does a good job of capturing the college atmosphere along with great in game announcing . Pre-game is decent but may face a setback with out Brando.

I was going to say the same.

The primary reason CBS easily wins this is they are the only ones who seem to know how ot properly mic the crowd. That goes a LOOONNNG Way.

That said, I really liked the way ABC did the primetime games this year, following the teams from the locker rooms to the field, and catching the pregame speeches. People hate on Brent Musburger, but he has that big game voice, and when you hear him speak, you know it is a big game. Like back in the day when Pat Summerall was calling games with John Madden.

AND most importantly, and this cannot be stressed enough, he knows when to be quiet and let the crowd atmosphere and ambiance do the talking.

No...ESPN doesn't Broadcast the Super Bowl...until then in the Grand Scheme it doesn't matter....the NFL Thursday Night Package belongs to the NFL & CBS...College Sports and everything else is small potatoes...07-coffee3

I'm hoping FS gets smart and has him do some pre-game stuff, along with his calling of games.

Hell, almost anything has to be better than their stupid round table idea for their college sports pre-game show... yeah, let's show a full shot of the table, but make sure we always have two guys with their backs to the camera?

NBC Sports puts on an awesome production at least during the Army games they broadcast. They use knowledgeable commentators that do research on both teams playing and actually talk about the game being played and not games 3 months down the road that have no relevance.

RE: Which network has the best production value for college football?
IMO. there is a difference between

FOX (ota), Fox Sports Net du jour, and FS1/2
CBS and CBSSPortsNetwork
NBC and NBCSportsNetwork
ABC/ESPN and ESPN2, ESPNews, ESPNClassic, ESPNU

IMO, production is best on main network. The ESPNS are more consistent across platforms but the quality of the announcing teams drops the further you move away from the mothership.

Also, what bugs me most about ABC/ESPN is you can't tell which channel you are watching now AND how they consistently beat you over the head with BCS this and that when they are televising non-BCS teams playing each other.

I generally felt that CBSSN and FOXSN were good about discussing who is actually playing versus talking about all the BCS teams in the background. Granted, it took CBSSN a long time to finally get some decent looking video for their games.

I pass on NBC because all they show is Notre Dame....
