"MSC" would have changed to "UTAM" — which just sounds odd to me.

yeah, if that would have happened we might still be playing in the liberty bowl and the state woulda treated us like a stepchild.... oh wait, nevermind.

We'd be just another UT-Martin or UT-Chatt...or even UAB
At least we have influence in the TBR, and get the most TBR funding.

Yes, as we get the most funding of any TBR university...the TBR has never stopped us from hiring a coach (see UAB), and the TBR allowed Memphis to change it's name (see MTSU's name change being spurned)

There is more to the equation that "gets most of the funding" Our university when TBR was formed, was likely bigger & consumed more resources than all the other schools that are a part of the TBR. TBR funding has restricted our university since that time, not benefited it. So while we might get "most of the funding" today, proportionally our university has been a severe funding diet since put under TBR - and in comparison to UTK, the funding we receive is a joke.

Just because you don't like the amount of funding we get doesn't change the fact things could be much worse. You're so focused on the glass being half empty that you missed the fact it's half full.
