No they aren't.

Yes they are.
http://dailycaller.com/2014/04/01/polls-...trol-spin/

When asked about gun control vs protection of gun rights, people usually fall on the side of protection. When ask about certain specifics, that can change. The problem is that people are not informed. When they are informed, they usually do not favor more of these gun control laws.

Case in point. Background checks. The left frequently talks about how people don't have to get background checks at gun shows. But, instead of just trying to close this loophole (which a small number of people use and it is rarely heard of that these guns are used to commit crimes), they try to cover family members and neighbors. They fail to talk about whether the gun show loophole ACTUAL is an issue. Instead, they try to scare people. Once people are fully informed, they usually go against these restrictions.

Currently, there are only two major "gun violence" situations: (1) crazy people and (2) urban violence. These people aren't buying at gun shows. Crazy people usually just buy at the gun store (because they aren't on the list) and urban people buy from their neighborhood street dealer. Real solutions would be to address our mentally ill populations and increase penalties for unlawful possession of firearms in these urban areas (maybe even offer a $250 reward for tips on unlawfully owned guns in these areas).

Hows the old guy supposed to know this tramp is pregnant? Cause she said so? 03-lmfao

How's the old guy supposed to know she isn't armed? Or, more likely that the chickenschit BF isn't heading to the car to get his own gun?

Didn't she already jump him once? Care to bet if he had let her up whether she'd try to overpower him again? Perhaps pull her own gun or knife?

I'm not for summary execution (or whatever) here, but seems many of us are trying to apply some level headed, thoughtful standard to this as we read about it from the semi-comfort of our desk chairs.

This weren't that. He was already injured, see- Hospital, shoulder, collarbone, so down to only one arm and clearly, I would imagine, still fearing for his own life.

We'd all like to be so calm cool and Clint Eastwood collected, but this is an injured old man who returned to his home being ransacked and been jumped by 2 people probably 1/4 his age.

Sorry, not real sorry.

Broken collar bone, maybe broken or dislocated arm, he may have thought he
was going to pass out and she would take the gun and kill him.
80 years old, can probably fight this until he dies.

Not going to, they broke in to his house, thou he is done. She was begging for her life, at that point shoot her in the knee cap. She and baby live, but she'll be walking like a 90 year old man the rest of her life then.

It is one thing to defend yourself in fight, defend your home, but when you have the upper hand and the person is begging for their life (In his own words), that crossed the line into murder, man 1 at least. He wasn't wrong for firing, but did he have kill? I say shot her leg and call the cops. My point is he just hung him self by saying she begged for life.

Thou, I'm surprised pro-lifers are fine with killing the unborn child.

Ask any cop or any person within law enforcement and they will tell that if you have to shoot, shoot to kill. There is no class that teaches you how to "wing 'em." What totally screwed this guy was taking the second shot and his comments to the press.

This.

It has gotten to be such cliched codswallop- "shoot them in the leg!". "Look how thoughtful and very 21st century I am!"

Well, you'll miss. Then what? They know you plan to kill them, do you expect them to sit there and wait for the next shot? Probably not. You aim for mass. The chest.

But yes, this guy sounds almost proud of this, which won't endear him to many people. At that age he either doesn't really give a rip, or may well be patting himself on the back.

Guess he can take this off the ol' bucket list...

I won't miss, I can hit a 3 centimeter bullseye open site at 550 yards cold bore. Yes, I own guns, no, no Automics, I have shotguns, semi-auto rifles and bolt action rifles, and two hand guns a .45 and 9mm. Yes, I'm for re-enacting Reagan's assault weapons ban.

Yeah, there's a point where defense becomes an execution. I'm all for getting them when they are a threat. I know people who have. But when someone is begging for their lives and you say that much, then it crosses the line.

This guy is an idiot for saying those things and risking the chance at being charged. But, at worse, I can see a DA giving this case to a Grand Jury that will probably not indict. He is 80 and they were committing the crime and had physically roughed him up. Even if they indicted him, a DA would probably plead to something very small, as there is no way they are getting a unanimous verdict against him, given the facts, his age, and the fact that he was assaulted.

Remember, this is California, he used a gun, he's white, and we have no idea who the criminals are.

She should not have broken an entering or assaulted and committed battery/malicious wounding of the home owner. She should not have picked "door #3".
