RE: Nike brand Football Jerseys
I hate the color black being used in our uniforms. 20 years ago, everything was blue and gray.

Now our football team wears black more often than gray, our band wears black pants, the cheerleaders run onto the football field carrying black flags with blue letters.

The uniforms last year were the worst I've seen in 30+ years of watching Tiger football.

I couldn't disagree more. That's what the kids want. You have to keep up with the Joneses.

And again, black and white are not colors, they are backgrounds, we have worn white jerseys for years on the road, and it not one of our colors. I love the blue and grey too, but I don't have a problem with the alternative uniforms. They look great.

Was there any question? I thought we signed a deal with them.

The deal expired earlier this year. I don't remember hearing about a new deal.

The first contract actually ended on June 30th, 2013, that was the end of the 5 year deal. Since then we have had several different jersey combinations for both Football and Basketball, I would assume that has something to do with a new contract. And given that Willie Gregory and Penny are both close to the school, we will remain a Nike school for quite some time.

Is the football team and basketball team on the same contract? The basketball team started wearing Nike jerseys in 2009, but I just noticed a picture of DeAngelo wearing a Nike jersey and his last year was 2005.

I think football has always been Nike while Cal went with Adidas for a few years.

I would hope that we could take advantage of our local ties with Nike and Penny's endorsements and be an anchor school for Nike. I forget their current uniform strategy, Nike combat or something like that.

unfortunately Memphis will not be an anchor school for Nike as long as some of the Tiger fans don't want to pay the "high price" of Nike apparel and rather get their Tiger gear cheaper from such places as WalMart

"High prices"??? I just got an authentic, game worn Nike jersey for $25. Can't believe no one else is bidding on them!

that's an auction run by the school of old uniforms they're trying to get rid of with CUSA logo

I'm talking about buying new Nike logo apparel from retailers - - stores, on line, etc.

White is not a color of most teams and everyone has white road jerseys. Not a relevant argument.

I am fine with the alternative uniform designs for a few games but I would prefer we use school colors blue and gray. I understand the young kids want alternative uniforms. I have fed football players at my house and we've had discussions about uniforms. I am more of a tradition person who thinks school colors matter. Everyone has their opinion. Looking forward to seeing our team play this fall.

Agreed, but it's still a good deal for any Nike jersey at $25. Especially given the selection of replica jerseys I've seen for sale.

I will be happy to pay higher prices for Nike apparel as soon as they make an effort to use DARK royal blue and medium gray. A $5 cap from WalMart in the correct shade of blue vs a $25 cap in the wrong colors is an easy choice, in my opinion.

Would LOVE to see the basketball team fully outfitted in Penny's "1 Cent" gear.

And by halftime of the season opener, the sun will cause the cheap $5 cap to fade so fast that it will no longer sport the correct shade of blue.

it does not matter, GA is not going to pay $20 for a real hat even if it signed by Spook himself with 'We Fight Like Tigers' hand written in by Murphy himself.
