Yes you are one of my favorite posters and we both know that the personal insults that we levy against each other is only said in jest. I have never viewed us as being divided by our own political views.

I've started some here too. I really would be interested to see how the two nations fared if we didn't have politicians stopping laws, or creating them, based on political toe lines. Dixie was just asking what your reaction would be if you heard it on the news.

In other words, since they won't compromise, if we split up and no compromising was necessary, how much different would it be.

There is a big difference between you discussing it as a hypothetical or something that would be interesting to see vs dixie's actively campaigning trying to get it to happen

Agreed Smaug, My first reaction would be that it was joke. Let's assume it wasn't.

EverRepsect, I wonder how many people would flock to the region. You would fit in, no doubt. I also wonder if people would leave. People like UofMemphis.

It's not going to happen, so I won't waste time worrying about it.

So you just came to the thread to make insults like a child. Gotcha.

Stupid questions deserve a stupid answer.

You must think every question on this forum is stupid then.

I wouldn't want Kentucky. They bring nothing to the table IMHO. They're also big on unions.

I could see equal disinterest from Texas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Yeah VA, NC, and FL would most likely be "no way"

Kentucky & Texas would have large portions being against it.

and dixie don't even try to compare OK to NC, VA, FL, or TX. those states are in completely different classes than OK.

That would probably be a good decision for you.

It would be. A new Confederacy isn't a good look for me. It would actually be the ultimate detriment.

It wouldn't be a similar Confederacy lol. Do you really think things would be the same now as they were 150 years ago?

Nobody wants those times back.

There would be some impure motive for trying to make an entire different country. It's not enough to say, "oh these northern liberals are ruining this country" when they've had their hand in it too--and they'll get their chance to do it again one day.

Making a different country would create a one party rule situation. Why would they want that much power other than to abuse it?

Gotta keep gdunn in the picture, so since he's in MO, it sounds like a good swap 04-cheers

Although Kentucky wouldn't back down, not the southern portion anyways. I drove through the south western part and counted at least 25 Confederate flags and even saw a huge one waving on a big pole at the corner of a bridge.

Wrong John. Texas has one of the biggest secession movements in the country.

You're right, OK has all the production and money, minus all the crime and liberal sewage,

Nope. Missouri is a union state too. I have no use for unions of any kind in a new Confederacy.

That's because he gives his view as a hard right Conservative and will debate anybody about the reason he feels the way he does about any story, and can do so for days on end until the other people are blue in the face. A lot of those who are annoyed by it, do in time find respect in his strong will and beliefs. Others just get tired of debating and just start insulting.

Think about it, how many times have you seen him insult or call another poster a childish name?

it's not the stances he takes but his: "I am always right you are always right attitude." He legitimately thinks that he knows what you would do in a situation. if you say otherwise his response is "you are wrong."

did you not read the yard sign thread?

I would think that they would be stupid and instantly at least a second-world country. Most of America's technological base is in the West, the management is in the Northeast, and the government as well in the East. The South would be a Mexico-type nation, and the isolation it would receive from the rest of the U.S. would almost guarantee a spell of poverty, depression, and civil unrest.

Thus, it would be very unlikely.
