I doubt that...this isn't a poll from across the nation...just our little SBC clique...

Our poll mirrors national perception pretty well.

Ask yourself if what you said matters at all.

You should ask yourself if a preseason poll guarantees you anything...I think not.

Will not this year either.
I've changed my #2 from UL to Troy.

Not sure what 'it' is just no the good folks at UL don't have it in football.

Welcome back Troy.

I'd argue that nationally ULL, Troy, stAte, and ULM get similar amounts of respect. Obviously, ratings prove that stAte and ULL are the top draws television wise in the league, with Troy a respectable 3rd. ULM gets mentioned near the top a lot because of their habit of giant killing, proving that you almost get more for beating one of the big boys than you do for winning the SBC these days.

If you asked someone nationally to name an SBC team, chances are, he'd either know nothing, or name off one of those 4 teams.

It's primarily UL and ASU. When folks get to talking about which G5 teams have a shot at busting the 4 team playoff those are the teams that recieve almost all of the attention when the Belt is mentioned.

That goes back to my post about garnering attention for the conference.

Truthfully, the perception I was had about the two of you when you were FCS was that App was the better program.

That Michigan win earned them mileage that you guys are only just catching up too...

RE: 2014 Sunbelt Coaches Poll
Well it feels like football again we have people bickering and fighting over a preseason poll that means nothing to no one except us whom will fight over anything that our particular school is not mentioned in a perceived favorable billing. Welcome back football fans. Oh and the CAJUNS will prove you all wrong and win this conference and if we don't we will still piss the conference champs off because we will take the NOB invite .05-stirthepot WELCOME BACK ALL

Perception, but not fact. Even though App has beaten us the last few years we have a much better record. I guess that's all people know about App. They beat UM and had a good 3 year run. They hadn't done much before or after those years.

I don't believe that NMSU will be the worst team in this league. I think them and GaSt will be improved although it wont take much to improve both. NMSU will surprise some folks just hope its not the Cajuns they surprise.

For the past eight years we only trailed Boise State in the number of wins. After the terrible first year with new coach and staff last year I believe Alabama, Oklahoma, and Nebraska passed us. Georgia Southern isn't even on the chart.
So you are correct.

I hope yer' right.

But for that to happen, Freshmen will have to play well.

That's possible, but it's not something you want to depend on.

How 'bout getting picked last?

At least we're under the radar. Way under.

Georgia Southern
2005 = 8 wins 4 losses
2006 = 3 wins 8 losses
2007 = 7 wins 4 losses
2008 = 6 wins 5 losses
2009 = 5 wins 6 losses
2010 = 10 wins 5 losses
2011 = 11 wins 3 losses
2012 = 10 wins 4 losses
2013 = 7 wins 4 losses

You have had basically 3 good years this past decade. Why those three years, because they changed the playoff format to 24 and games are set up geographically, so GaSo has beat up on some teams that neither of us would normally even schedule.
For example your 2010 record if you take out the easy wins would have been 7 and 5, instead of 10 and 5.
Do you want me to post App States' wins/losses each year beside Georgia Southerns'?

Honest question, and I'm not trying to minimize the team:

Why are so many folks so high on South Alabama?

I'm not even saying it's undeserved, I just don't know why it's happening.

yes, please post that. in fact, go back to when we restarted football early 80s (1982 would suffice)...instead of your selective past 8 years.
