What are all the AAC rivalries?
from my perspective there are only two AAC matchups of note.

SMU-Houston & UCF-USF

I only name these two because casual football fans can relate to them and understand why the two are rivals. But what other rivalries are there in the AAC that people should know about?

SMU - Navy

I don't know if ECU has any rivalries with teams here. They claim to have one with UCF but it feels forced and without emotion. Plus, we already have an incredibly heated rivalry with USF.

RE: What are all the AAC rivalries?
Tulsa has had rivalries in the past with Cincy, Houston, SMU

The Cincy rivalry has since faded... but we developed some cross divisional rivals in ECU & UCF from playing in conference championships, completing last second, stupidly, ridiculous Hail Mary passes (I'm looking at you pirates! BOO!) etc...

Tulsa could have developed a basketball rivalry with Memphis but they spanked us so hard pretty much every year under that blasted Wojcik that it never developed like it should have.

Our rivals have left the building:
Our main basketball rivalry died when Syracuse left for the ACC
Our main football rivalry died when Rutgers left for the B1G

For football, UConn will likely develop rivalries with Temple and maybe ECU (and we already have some good history against USF in regard to games with dramatic endings). For basketball, I am not sure that UConn fans will accept Temple as our natural rival. There is too much A10 history for Temple, which makes most UConn fans feel like Temple is still a notch below us (like UMass) due to our old Big East pedigree and national titles - however, this could change if Temple gets good again quickly (if it takes too long, though, that rivalry will be DOA). I think UConn will eventually have a good hoop rivalry with Cincinnati and/or Memphis. Both schools are always really good and both have the respect of UConn fans.

RE: What are all the AAC rivalries?
already mention smu/navy (even have atrophy)

cincy memphis had a little basketball thing going in the metro
ecu ucf ha alittle fotball thing going in c-usa

tulsa houston kinda had a football thing
tulsa and ucf kinda had a football thing

ucf/usf is probably the only real real rivlary when they absolutely hate each other and view each other as their main rivals ...smu/houston isnt really anything now but will grow with time

uconn/temple will become something if both are here long enough..the divisions hurt the chances of cincy/memphis becoming a thing
we'll be interesting to see the rivalries as they grow and who hates whose guts as time goes on

Maybe UCF. Our rivals over the years aren't in this conference.

RE: What are all the AAC rivalries?
In football Rutgers, animosity between the fan bases and the close proximity of the campuses has created some juice between the programs.

Basketball for me its Villanova and St Joes because of the proximity of the three campuses, cultural differences between Temple and Villanova, and St Joes, well, just because they are St Joes.

As far as in the AAC Temple really has no rivalries. It’s my feeling that rivalries can’t be created artificially, something needs to happen between the fan bases or conflict on the field or court for a rivalry to begin.

AAC basketball I can see something maybe starting with Cincinnati, they seem to play a physical style of basketball similar to Xavier and that physical play is what created some tension between Temple and Xavier in the A10 so maybe there is potential there but that's a long shot. If that happens maybe it can carry over into football but right now there is just no history of bad blood, cheap shots, physical play or dislike between Temple and any of the AAC programs. Time will tell.

Only real rivalry is ucf and usf. Pretty big media coverage in the 2 markets for that game. I'm expecting close to 60k at Rjs this year if both ucf and usf are playing well.

you 2 are the only true north east besides navy (who is out west)..similar profiles of basketball first..there will definitely be a chance for a rivalry

and i didnt say temple uconn was a rivalry now so what they are saying now is irrelevant to the topic.. but how they will feel a few years down the line

During the old Metro, Cusa 1, and Huggins years it certainly was.

Maybe at this point it's more of a nostalgia thing than a real rivalry, but if we're stuck together in this league for a few years I suspect it will become what it once was. During more years than not, Cincy/Memphis will be fighting each other for seeding and ranking, and position in the conference.
