Wow guys! Why would you all let a cuse fan start an argument about basically nothing. Nothing that concerns him anyway. Now no offense cincy fans but maybe the people you all want or want to think of as rivals don't feel the same. Remember after all those years in the beast with loserville they signed a h/h with memphis. No offense but just saying

Well that's just disrespectful...

Beating them, like we have beat Duke and Syracuse in the recent past may change that attitude.

RE: What are all the AAC rivalries?
ECU-UCF was never a football rivalry... It was a message board smack down based only on who deserved to get a Big East bid first. Obviously, we lost that one. Now that we're in the AAC, it goes back to being an important conference game again. Not so much a rivalry.

ECU holds a large share of the Top Ten attendance records in both UNC's Kenan Stadium and NCSU's Carter Finley Stadium. They are our true hated rivals. Obviously not all Heels will stoop low enough to admit it and Wolfpack fans have illusions of grandeur and can't believe it, but they do show up in droves at our and their stadium when we play. Duke and Wake Forrest are not rivals because they won't schedule. But they can "want some, get some", too. VT and WVU are soft rivalries/friendly games. But these are games too friendly to be called rivalries. We will always be grateful because they play us while most of the ACC tries to blackball us. From the beginning, most CUSA games were schedule fillers for us. But I think rivalries could definitely start in the AAC.

BTW, don't try to tell us about who the ACC rivalries are. We've had that ACC $hit thrown in our face by the Raleigh media so long we know a lot more about the ACC than any of you Johnny-come-lately ACC fans.

The Memphis -ECU football 'Battle of the Big Waters' has to be the biggest rivalry for ECU period. And one of the top five rivalries in the AAC for Memphis behind Navy, UCF, and UConn.

"Battle of the Big Waters." I was thinking it would be "Battle for the Big Hills", because the mountains are the halfway point between the two schools.

Right - 'The Battle for Dollyworld' was considered for the same reasons --- but was deemed insuperior.

Rivalry:

UCF vs South Florida

Interesting match-ups that get message board fans excited:

UCF vs East Carolina
- 4 East titles for UCF and 2 each for Southern Miss and ECU so it wasn't much of a rivalry although the two times ECU won the East they also won league titles.

UCF vs Tulsa
- Both UCF and Tulsa led C-USA with the most division titles and championship game appearances. Also met in the championship game 3 times ('05, '07, '12).

UCF vs Houston
- Always a nerve wracking game for me although UCF has dominated the series as of late.

Not sure how the difference in two titles keeps something from being a rivalry. ECU would have a much better argument when it came to overall head to head record and even I don't consider that to be a factor in whether there is a rivalry.

One ECU poster said ECU/UCF has never been a rivalry, just an internet message board war. That's not true. It probably is more passionate on the boards but ECU travels very well to UCF compared to other conference mates and vice versa (for a 10 hr drive that's saying something, especially for UCF fans). There is something building there whether the haters like it or not.

RE: What are all the AAC rivalries?
As mentioned, all of our old football rivals have left the conference. In basketball, I can see UConn and Memphis heating up. We might develop a rivalry in football with UCF if we ever get a chance to play. At this time, I think ECU will become our rival - they have a quality program and a rabid fan base. It should be fun on Nov 13th! 04-cheers

Rivalries are built on geography, close games, upsets and (most of all) time. I'm sure that, over time, rivalries will develop - we just have to wait and see. I'm sure there will be some surprises.

No, "insuperior" is a new word coined by an ECU fan --- sort of like the P6.

Dominated the series not dominated the games. I think UCF is something like 4-1 or 5-1 against Houston.

The USF vs UCF will become more heated now that we are conference mates. It will be interesting to see if UCF wins its first game in Tampa this year. Still hold that 4-1 lead in the series. 04-cheers

I suggest you sharpen your critical reading skills.

He said dominate the SERIES, which is true, as we're 4-1 vs UH and the last UH win came back in 2006.

Basically we have no football rival in the AAC and we have a quasi bball rivalry with Memphis in hoops.

I don't see this changing either...

I can easily see ecu memphis and ucf as football rivals. All three are doable road trips. Memphis is a great city, universal with the kida, and we all know why ecu is gonna be fun to beat.

I'm sorry, but UCF does not have a rivalry with ECU and people from both fanbases agree with me.

We're not "haters" for saying its not a rivalry. Actually its the exact opposite. Most UCF alumni I know treat the ECU game like any other game. You won't hear us talking up a forced rivalry, since we know what real rivalries feel like with USF.

ECU vs USF is just a solid conference matchup every year. People on message boards try to flame the other team and make it a rivalry, but they're a minority. The average fan in the stands on gameday won't feel the same way and until that changes, the ECU and UCF game is just two excellent teams playing football.
