Argentina still pines for Juan Peron.
The Netherlands prohibits nothing.
Germany is playing into Russia's hands by banning cracking.

It's a pickem' for all the pinheads.

I would have loved to see the probable riots in Brazil with a World Cup win.

/sarcasm. About loving to see the riots.
//not sarcasm. About there probably being riots.

Just wow. Never imagined that. I really wanted an Argentina Brazil final, but suddenly Germany is looking like a very good matchup.

USA's 2-1 loss doesn't look too bad now does it.
Ghana's got to be feeling pretty good too.

Germany has looked liken the 3rd or 4th best overall this year. This performance coupled with the Portugal game puts them in the driver's seat. So many more guys that can start play and distribute the ball than Argentina and the Netherlands.

The USA game didn't really count for Germany, especially after they were ahead. No need to push when a draw put them through and a one goal win secured the group. Not saying it wasn't competitive and Germany didn't play hard, I just don't think they played their hardest.

I do believe I acknowledged that in my post. They got their one goal lead, sat on it, and kept the US from getting any decent scoring chances until the final minute of stoppage time. They didn't take any risks to counter or score a 3rd goal that wasn't necessary.

US played well, but if that game really meant something yea, we would have seen a more determined German squad. Of course, the US squad may have played better as well. The US is coming along, but Germany remains on a who other level soccer wise.

I dont know what game youre talking about, but its best to get the scoreline right before you start commenting on the game

Sorry.
1 nil loss by US rather than 2-1 loss.
Still a loss by one goal rather than by 6 is a better result than Brazil had.

I was confused over whether he meant that losing to Belgium 2-1 was better than losing to Germany 7-1 (rather than Germany 1-0).

The game against German was meaningless insofar as the conditions were so bad and the context of the game was such that you cannot draw larger conclusions. The US defended better against Germany than they had previously, but Germany missed some chances that they would not have in better field conditions. Had the US made the defensive mistakes that they did in all of the other world cup games, there's no reason to think the game would've been especially close. In spite of the close score, there is still a big gulf between the USMNT and Germany.

Second goal, not third, quit nitpicking I was posting from work about a game the week before and just went off tne previous poster's score. Germany got their lead and sat on it. They didn't push.

RE: Deutschland uber alles
Aside from defense and goal tending, we seemed pretty far behind everyone we played. The only game I didn't catch was Ghana (and I heard we had no business winning), but we were on our heels nearly the whole game against Portugal, Germany, and Belgium and lucky we weren't blown out in all of those.

Germany and Belgium were obviously the better teams but we held our own agains Portugal. Of course Portugal's best player wasn't 100% but he was still pretty damn good. I think we played well against Ghana and Portugal but were just outclassed by Germany and Belgium.
