Daily Oklahoman: Unofficial visits a "necessary evil" in college football
UNOFFICIAL VISITS

It is my observation that the paid for "official visit" occurs very late in the recruiting season, when the recruit is known to be committed to that particular school 100%.

Yeah I remember a kid a year or two ago who committed on every official visit he took.
