Anyone else think that Marshall will not win CUSA?
I have heard the hype all summer long about how Marshall is going to walk through CUSA this season and go undefeated. I don't see it. I don't even think they will win CUSA. We beat them last year. They lost to a mediocre Ohio team, was blown out by Rice and nearly loss to FAU. They are not a good road team and I think they will fold under the added pressure this season. They will lose three to four CUSA games with one of them being another loss to Middle Tennessee. Book it!

I think you're completely right. We might as well cancel Homecoming and the IAF/HOF opening ceremony when you guys come up in October.

That phrase is cursed. They're going to win it all now.

They have a good chance to win the conference just because the schedule is so easy, but it wouldn't surprise me if they lost a couple road games. They're mediocre to bad on the road.

To the question in the thread title, they are the favorites to win, but the road is full of landmines. It is very possible they will lose one or two. That's why we play the games.
I agree with this. There's little doubt that they're the best team, I just can't see them holding on to every game and not slipping up. I'll be so happy to eat my words and see a 13-0 Marshall in the Access Bowl though.

I listened to a number of Marshall games last year on the radio and as others have commented here, they seem to be a totally different team on the road. I have no clue why. That MTSU/Marshall game was nothing short of amazing.
Marshall's schedule most certainly favors a solid shot at an undefeated season and an Access Bowl slot. I can hardly wait for this season's games.

I will be surprised if Marshall can go through the conference schedule undefeated, but I would be surprised if we don't win the East and return to the championship game as host. Right now I think it will be UNT @ Marshall for the championship.

I feel comfortable saying they win the east, not going to attempt to predict the outcome of one game six months away against an unknown opponent.

Marshall has to play in the tomb that is Legion field and that has never gone well for them. Last time Cato played there he got embarrassed

25/34 for 216 yards, 2 TDs and 1 int was definitely a lackluster day for Cato. I wouldn't blame him for the loss though. I'm pretty sure Marshall's rush defense and UAB's Darren Reaves was the main reason.

RE: Anyone else think that Marshall will not win CUSA?
Marshall's schedule makes them the most likely to go undefeated. If there is an undefeated team playing in the C-USA Championship Game, and North Texas isn't in the game, I'll be a huge fan of that undefeated team, and cheer for them to win. If that team is Marshall, then so be it. I don't care which team it is. C-USA needs an undefeated highly ranked team to challenge for the access bowl spot, and Marshall is in the best position to do that.
But, to answer you question... I believe Marshall will win the Eastern Division, but I'm not sold on their ability to go undefeated or win the title game. If they are not undefeated and have to play the title game at Rice, North Texas, or UTSA, I'd put my money on the home team.

If Marshall is undefeated for the Rice game and Rice is say, 7-2, I wouldn't be surprised if GameDay was in Huntington for that. They usually do one "alternative" destination per season, and I hope it's in Huntington! That is also when a lot of SEC teams play their November Cupcake.

RE: Anyone else think that Marshall will not win CUSA?
I think we'll win the West and that we'll beat Marshall in the conference championship. Not trying to make any waves, and I'm not being brash either. The question was asked and it's what I honestly think. That's based on what I've watched this program do so far and the improvement I've seen every year since its inception. It's also based on the number of returning starters from last season, as well as some developing players who've really stepped up to challenge others. Everyone thinks our QB position will be a question mark, but as we draw closer and closer to opening day, my confidence grows even in that position.

UTSA will win it. Just say it so their fans won't cry about it.
Marshall is the clear favorite but will drop a game or two in conference.
