Tony Wroten
Several times over the last couple weeks, I have heard comments on Parrish by Parrish and Calkins making Tony Wroten out to be a bad pick.
After being traded to Philly (for nothing), 20 year old Wroten averaged 13 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and a steal in 25 minutes a game for a losing 76ers team.
Personally, I think every Grizz fan should be livid the team gave up on the kid so quickly. It was obviously a political move, but why does the Frat pack brush aside Wroten like one season with a draftee proves a point?

RE: Tony Wroten
His usage rate and PER are pretty awful for those numbers...he wouldn't get nearly as many touches on a team that wasn't tanking.

He's inefficient... He's also 20 years old!!!
Five years from now, he might look like a stud.
Vasquez was inefficient too, but he had that extra little something that helps your team.
So is Tony Allen.

True, but TA makes up for his inefficiency on defense.

IMO it seems like they've always had a short leash on point guards.... Except of course for Conley.

Not about him playing over anyone. It's about having a spot for him and developing him for the future. He's athletic and dynamic enough he could have TA like skills one day.

Well if he wouldn't play over anyone and the team wanted pieces to help them win now, who cares about Wroten? He's not that good anyway.

It was a bad draft pick. Whether or not he turns out to be good down the road is irrelevant. They gave him away for nothing. They might as well have never used that particular pick.
I think Wroten is better than Calathes, although both are sub par when you compare them to a guy like Reggie Jackson. The Grizz have never really had good back up point guard options. They should have taken Napier.

Crappy players might put up weighed numbers on bad teams, but 20 year old athletic players who put up decent numbers on crappy teams in their 2nd year in the league might be showing potential.
Ed Davis showed potential (to make it the focal point of the Rudy trade), but Tony Wroten didn't?
The Grizzlies got rid of Wroten to cut payroll, open the path for Nick C. and get rid of a Chris Wallace pick.

How is a guy picked at 25 a bad pick?
BTW, as a 21 year old rookie, Reggie Jackson played 11 minutes a game for 45 games, shot 32% and averaged three points a game.
Year two, as a 22 year old, he shot threes at 23% and averaged 5 points a game.

It's a bad pick because they gave him away with nothing to show for it. It's like they never made that pick.
I'm not arguing whether or not I think Wroten will end up being a good PG. I'm saying that's irrelevant at this point in terms of it being a bad draft pick. If he ends up being the next Chris Paul, it was a bad pick because the Grizzlies dealt him away. If he ends up in Europe in a few years, it was a bad pick because he never panned out.

Nick Calathes stinks. I remember he couldn't even dribble the ball up the court against CP3. Granted CP3 is arguably the best PG in the world, but c'mon. If you can't dribble the ball up the court against him, you probably shouldn't be in the league.
I would have preferred Wroten over Calathes.
