If the ACC were to expand
Q: which direction should it look?
Northeast (BosWash)
or
Gulf Coast
?
I'm leaning toward Houston & Tulane, but if the league took more I could also see scenarios for UCF, SMU, Temple and [maybe] UConn.
What do YOU guys think?

RE: If the ACC were to expand
Depends on who the B1G or SEC takes from the ACC first.

RE: If the ACC were to expand
If the acc expands it will be uconn 1st.
If the big 12 expands, it looks like ucf, byu, usf, and Cincy will be high on the list.
If the Big 10 expands it will raid the ACC.

I already know what the ACC guys think... I was curious what YOU guys think.
I suppose I could move it to the Realignment thread... but then I have to deal with Big XII guys!

Still the wrong forum. All realignment threads here are eventually moved to the CR forum.

OK, I moved it to the CR forum. Tried to delete here but don't have permissions. I'll see if a mod can do it for me. Sorry to bother you.

RE: If the ACC were to expand
I just don't think UCF has the academics to make the cut. UCF and ECU are on par with each other (let's not do the USN&WR as anyone in their right mind knows that is bogus when you get as far down as our schools) and that's been a big knock on ECU for just about anything. Let's not try to create an illusion when there shouldn't be. Louisville was tough for many in the ACC to choke down and they are ranked MUCH higher. For ECU and ACC contention, it has been that and having a 5th school in NC. At least UCF would only be the third and they have that going for them.
Hardly any choices on that list that mold well with the ACC's view of itself. Some of the privates do but it seems the trend is to get away from privates. Since it is all about money, the ACC would need to "stoop" (in its own mind) and go for a school in a big market. See how BC turned out? I think that's where a USF or UCF comes into play. Move south. USF seems more like what the ACC would want IMO.
But there is no reason to add anyone right now...unless something major is about to happen. If the ACC was adding, it would mean the SEC was too. Would teams shift from P5 to P5 or just add from the AAC or MWC? If the later, I sure hope my school is in contention.

UConn doesn't have anywhere close to enough votes.

I wanted to vote for none of the above, but that wasn't an option. I don't think any of these schools add more than they subtract.

RE: If the ACC were to expand
Uconn, WVU, or Cincy all work. I favor bringing in all 3 than break off into 3 pods of 6 with ND football being in a pod. ESPN would need to get the deal done with WVU getting out of the big 12, replaced with BYU. I think it make a lot sense if the ACC network comes on line to bring in those 3 school's. I'd go to 2 divisions of 9 for all other sports, basically espn would have an old school acc and old school big east under the acc network empire. I would either try to get 2 hoop tourney for each pod or make it a 2 week-end event, probably go for the 2 week-end event.

RE: If the ACC were to expand
Cincinnati first, and then when the B12 falls apart West Virginia is next for a 16 (+1) ACC.
Metro - Cincinnati, Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech
Atlantic - Boston College, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, West Virginia
Coastal - Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina
Gulf - Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina State, Wake Forest
(+1) Notre Dame

RE: If the ACC were to expand
I voted UConn. However, I think West Virginia and Cincinnati would get serious consideration also.
