I get that in the great frozen north, basketball is the end all be all, but down here, most folks respect baseball a hell of a lot more than basketball.
The 4 Southern Sport Seasons:
Summer: Preseason Football
Fall: Football
Winter: Football Recruiting (where you do your thing with the round ball)
Spring: Baseball
Vanderbilt has been in a major conference since the beginning of time and now has 2 ncaa championships in any sport. Assuming bowling makes it into a southern respect category. That's some major conference athletic department, competing at the highest levels.
We get it, you Huskies are pissed that no power conference wants you right now. Make some shirts that say "Angry that we're not in the P5", they'll sell like crazy at all AAC games to both home and visiting fans.
But choice is still a factor.
The SEC still WANTS to associate with Vanderbilt. I know that means nothing to bitter G5 fans but too bad. You don't get to dictate who we choose to associate with.
Vanderbilt does a very good job running its athletic program. Is is still run within the intermural department? (That is no shot, far from it, I am amazed if they can do that)
Dore athletics have improved dramatically since they dissolved their athletics program. I think it lets the school hide funding, allowing the school to better support teams without causing an academic backlash.

And I second that.... I knew someone would take a congratulatory thread and start bashing an SEC school
