Right up until we lose by 35

And I don't get the whole "we won't sell out a mid-level opponent" argument, did you guy miss the fact that we set a record attendance against a team that finished 1-11 last year?

I agree that we probably would sell out against a mid-level opponent. My personal opinion is Bama would be great. Play a team, who is currently one of the top couple of programs in CFB. You do not get better by playing low level teams. With our conf we need a strong OOC as well.

As for Purdue, no one knew they would be 1-11. Also, Purdue is a B10 school. For some reason people in Cincy and the State of Ohio have an over inflated view of those schools.

Absolutely agree with this. It must be something in the water here but people believe all B10 teams have some special annointing and will be impossible to beat. Those folks must not watch the B10 bowl games. Purdue is a great school. Their football is really down right now but I'm guessing they had 4,000 attending here; either as visitors or local alumni who obtained tickets through UC and that's a good thing.

UC needs to revisit the Texas Tech challenge for a home & home. Anytime UC can get a P5 game they should jump on it. How about a 4 game home & home against Texas Tech. They want the games badly because of Tubs. All the SEC teams want a piece of him. How about Arkansas, Old Miss, Tennessee.

Love the posts. I had to stop though.

I Will Believe It When *I* See Them Getting Off The Bus. There is No Program of that magnitude that will ever step foot onto the playing field at Nippert Stadium.

PBS maybe. Maybe. Going to Alabama is totally different. Saban isn't Saban by gambling with his OOC games. Take One Look at Alabama's OOC road games since he has been there.

Big Time Programs will not risk the chance of playing at Nippert Stadium. Those coaches watch and those coaches talk. Ain't gonna happen.

Many SEC don't gamble OOC too much, but there is a playoff now and OOC schedules matter.
Alabama needs an opponent for 2015.

Muschamp said FCS opponents hurt strength of schedule and lack fan appeal. #Gators

Go to any Bama board and ask them if they want Chattanooga or Cincinnati.

We're a good win on their schedule, I don't see why they wouldn't want to play us. It would take a miracle for us to win, but what the hell. We should be willing to play anyone anytime.

As long as we get a return game back in Cincy. And I would prefer to play the home game first so they don't buy their way out of the contract.

Back in the 80's we did play everybody, and got crushed 95% of the time. Losing by big margins at Auburn, Alabama, Miami, Penn State did little to help UC build an image. Teams often invited UC down to be the patsy for their homecoming game which spurned the comment from our head coach "We play more homecomings than Chuck Mangione." (many of you will have to look up CM on Youtube)

We were so bad back then, none of those teams were scared to play in Cincinnati. That's not the case today. Home and home's are hard to come by for this Bearcat team.

I would love to shut the pie hole of the TT poster that constantly mouths off on all things negative about UC and Tubs over on the Lounge site.

IIRC, Tech reached out for a series shortly after they hired their new coach. Whit rejected the series because he did not think it would be a good environment to send our players into. I actually agree. I think it would be a circus on the scale of the Hawaii game only with more passion. Have you seen their fan base? Remember last year when one of their fans got into it with an Oklahoma State player? Their fans throw Tortilla's on the field for crying out loud.

I would imagine with Tuberville coming in there their base would be extra lubricated and extra hostile. A player would likely get hit with some flying object and the players would get into a fight or two.

On the flip, what do we gain by playing Tech? Sure it is a P5 team on our schedule but if we beat them it would not be seen as that big of a win by the pundits. The game would not aid us in recruiting (I don't see our coaches combing high schools in Lubbock).

I would think there are a few other Big Twelve teams we could schedule. Kansas State, TCU, Oklahoma State, ISU...

Interesting choice of words Clifton, LOL. Good points on TT game. I wonder if Tubs would even want to play TT?

I met Chuck Mangione circa 1977. His dad (Cap i believe) sold tee shirts, etc. outside of the concert venue. Pretty cool dude back then.

In 1983 I got my MST from UC and his wife was also getting her degree (DAA?) Chuch offered to perform free at Graduation but UC biggies, who probably did not know who he was told him "The Pep Band has it covered" Typical UC Biggies being stupid.

In the early 2000's when I visited companies, in Rochester, where I was a board member, his brother Gap? played piano in the bar in a hotel I always stayed at. He was quite talented.

@CliftonAVe

That was my first year at UC...I was at that Homecoming game vs Memphis. I loved that year. Lance Harp, David Small, Albert Sweet, etc. Great group of guys. What a fun year. We went 8-3 I believe and didn't get a bowl. Great memories.

Correct, no bowl, and it really stung because we absolutely destroyed a Ball State team that went bowling.

That off season Murphy left and we passed over an up and coming coach at Youngstown State for the safe pick of a DC from ND.
