Off-topic: War or fight games for X-box for under-teens help
My kid is not quite a teen, but most if not all his buds are playing graphic games with language on x-box. I am not letting him, which sucks that he feels isolated. Are there any cool fight or shooting games to check out that are not rated T or M? Thanks in advance.

No. Every decent game is T or M except sports games. That's just how it is. I played violent games at an early age and turned out great!

The fun in shooting games isn't the killing. The mechanism of aiming your cursor on a target and firing translates very well to videogames. That is why they are so popular.

Very narrow-minded view on gaming right here. Plenty of 'E'-rated games that are more than decent.

There are plenty of decent games rated E but how many of them are fighting or shooting games. I'm guessing not many since the violence is the main cause of the T or M rating. I know EA sports makes a UFC game but I don't know the rating. I haven't played it in a couple years but I don't remember any language in it and the violence is what you would expect from UFC, so I don't know if this helps any.

No. It's a realistic and accurate view of gaming. He asked about fighting and shooting games. Asking to find one of those games that isn't at least T is like asking to find a porno that isn't X.

We have the same issue. I even asked the guy at Gamestop for recs. He mentioned Transformers and GI Joe as mild fighting/language games, but I do not have first hand knowledge of either. My kids mostly play sporting games and Xbox LIVE downloadable free/cheap games. They've been binging on Avatar Death Match City where you play as your avatar and shoot with what looks like a nerf gun (what I've seen of it anyway). They also play Castle Crashers and Happy Wars.

Now for bad parent confession time, they do play Halo Wars which is rated T. The only language I've heard is "WTH?". We allow them play with the volume down to where the only discernable sound is the gunfire background noise (which is all they wanted). There are no gruesome death scenes or blood splattering. The bad guys (aliens) just fall to the ground when killed...as do the good guys. They play with their older cousins/uncles/friends from around the world (from mission trips and FES hosting). I am told the other Halo games are similar. Our preteens are earning money this summer to purchase the rest which are rated M with the understanding they will only be played with the volume off/low. HTH!

Well, you can get Smash Brothers Brawl for Wii or the upcoming 3DS/WiiU versions later on this year. Smash can very fun for local and online multiplayer. However, if you star them on Brawl the online has been shut down so you would only have local. You have varying fighting techniques but the object is to knock your opponent off the screen.

The new versions will have Pac Man and Mega Man, along with Sonic, dropping into a cast of Nintendo characters who will be fighting it out.
