RE: Just plain Sad
Kentucky has major issues selling tickets as well. I would imagine WKU would bring a few more fans to Lexington than say...Colorado. These type of intra-state games are good for both teams, it's a shame that everyone doesn't realize it.

You will never know the unabated trailer park ignorance, big blue circle jerk that is Kentucky Sports Radio. I found a humerus tidbit from one of Rupp's finer sons. The Lexington Pyschiatric Ward was discussing wether or not the WKU series should continue. Most are against it, as it is disingenuous to play teams who can beat them. Some were in favor of it, but only if we play every game in Lexington (not happening).
Then one of their brightest stars spoke up with brilliant insight.
In a comment titled 'No name schools' he says that UK should only play real schools. Not wanting to sit out in the heat and cold to watch UK play a nobody who is a guranteed win. 'I want to see UK play real teams. Can we not schedule cellar dwellers from the PAC/acc/ Big 10/Big 12?'
It is quite hilarious that he wants real teams, as long as these real teams are in last place in their league... It is also sad that this is how many college football fans think. UK, Kansas, Indiana, et al are better than WKU, Marshall, NIU and the like.
I can understand your consternation, it's something every G5 fan understands, hell there are plenty of lower tier P5 fans who get treated similarly, even if to a lesse degree, by their in state "big brother".
Having said that, I actually have no issue with what he said, even if he could have articulated it better. Why shouldn't Kentucky want to play last place teams from other P5 leagues? Where does Kentucky find themselves in the SEC standings nearly every year? Are you proposing he should have said "we already get our brains beaten in more often than not in conference, let's get whacked out of conference too! Call Florida State, maybe we can get a home and home with Oregon!"
I don't blame Kentucky fans for preferring to schedule a home and home with say Colorado or Iowa State rather than WKU or any other G5 member for that matter. Kentucky has plenty of intelligent and insightful fans, more than MT or WKU, they just get lost in the masses that come with a fanbase that size. In many years they'd have as good or better of a shot at beating Colorado or Iowa State than Western and a loss to a 3-9 Colorado team would look better to a large chunk of the aforementioned "masses" than a loss to a 10-2 WKU would.
uk does NOT have many intelligent fans. i've lived here for many mango seasons. for every reasonable, astute uk sports fan you run across there is a line of 30 trailer park trash level fans.
i live here. you DO NOT. are you going to cede that the majority of voles football fans are reasonable intelligent folks drowned out by the few hillbillies?
you're wrong on this one pikapp. i'm not working off the idiots that call into the radio shows. i'm going off 33 years in the workplace surrounded by them. i'll let you have your point that it's better for uk to not lose to a western or a middle.
you've been away from tennessee and kentucky for too long. your atlanta sample size is flawed data.
At what point did I ever say majority? What exactly about "lost in the masses" makes it sound like I believe UK has more smart fans than idiot fans?
Fact of the matter is, if WKU's fanbase is 100k people and 40% of them are intelligent and insightful and Kentucky's fan base is 1 million and 10% of them are intelligent and insightful, Kentucky has more insightful and intelligent fans than WKU and the same thing can be applied to UT/MT.
again you're giving too much credit to uk fans as they in no way approach 10% of reasonable fans. 1-3% would be generous.
40% would be too high for western fans too. we have plenty of idiots.
get your tongue out of uk/ut arse-cracks.
or........start wearing a camo uk/ut ballcap......backwards/flatbilled......with your drooping jorts.
love always,
dahbeed.
The numbers and percentages were totally arbitrary, the point remains.

RE: Just plain Sad
I'll tell you what. Everywhere that I have either been or that I have discussed with fans that have been to P5 venues, the only just plain and downright disgusting group was the one in Morganhole. South Carolina, Clemson, Florida, Ohio State, VaTech, (hell, the Tennessee fans cheered as we left the field) all have been extremely hospitable.
I'm not sure which group is worse: The Blind Blue Nation or the MountMeEerdiots...and Huntington is almost right smack dab between them...
