And Pastner's tough discipline seems to be paying off. We are damned lucky to not only have a guy who can find talent, but also has the guts to try and mold them into a better player, when that is possible.
But wasn't Dom training at his home in Texas when he lost all this weight?
Good job By Dom, by the way. He was really explosive while he was at 310, I can't wait to see him at 290.
I remember a follow up dunk made by Dom that literally made my jaw drop.
Yep. We can only imagine what he can do once he is in real shape.
And, as the other poster alludes to, whatever disciplinary measures Pastner took really seemed to sink in for Dom to do this when nobody was looking over his shoulder. The measures coach took must have been dead on correct. Kudos to the poster for recognizing this.

Great point and I would like to add that is it not refreshing that we can have a sane discussion about the subject in adult fashion without 'some' highjacking going on?

Not to sound too preachy --- but weight loss and maintenance isn't as difficult as some might think *if* you change the core of your diet to fruits, cold water fish, and vegetables (nutriants, fiber, and good fats) and you learn the difference between feeling hungry and having cravings for crap loaded with sugar, salt, and/or bad fats.
I agree.
Can be different for athletes at that level because they burn so much energy.
My doctor told me to avoid carbs; sugar, white bread, flour, potatoes, anything fried and to watch portions. I dropped about 30 lbs in four months and I wasn't really working out other than riding my bike. When eating out my wife and I would share a meal and I laid off bread of any kind, even though I might sneak a few bites at Macaroni Grill, can't resist that.
Over the past three years I have let about 15 of that sneak back up and I'm on the same diet and working out more. Getting older and metabolism changing. Guess I need to turn it up a notch.
The wife eats the same thing I do and never gains a pound.

If it was the first comment that was quoted here, that was a jab at The Ignorerer himself, and an homage to his trolling. He was responding to 450 (who he claims to have on ignore) and gently wheedling 450 on the Pastner topic. Essentially, TigBill was trying to troll 450 by turning this into a "Pastner not Dom" conversation, so I was happy to play my part.

Me too. Hopefully he can get down to 270. He had some explosive dunks. I still think what impressed me the most though with him is the 2nd Louisville game where he stole the ball and dribbled against 2 defenders across the court all the way to the rim, did a Euro step around them, and finished it off with a finger roll. I think he missed it, but he looked like a giant boulder driving down the court with the ball handling and foot movement poise and grace of a ballerina.
Haha, yeah Snowtiger just mentioned it. I was standing and screaming at him to slow it down and get the ball to a guard. When I saw his euro step I just sort of stood there slackjawed. I was pretty impressed.

I've never seen a 310 lb guy move like that. I was shocked. He's got the explosiveness and the finesse. If he can be smothering on D with his size he has a very high ceiling. Like Pastner said, he holds the fate of his own future as long as he can straighten out between the ears. Hopefully, the discipline, focus, and self-control required to lose the weight and get himself in game shape has begun instilling those values in him needed to keep a level head.
The first time I saw Dom play, my eyes bugged out, omg, he's huge and he's got hands...and feet!

It's been so long since I have seen a true back to the goal center that it's really exciting to think we may have one with immense talent and plenty of time to develop it.

Sometimes there really is no one to count on in the early years, and that never changes. I am very happy Dom has landed here. Interesting that he said LeBron was his inspiration.
Well that's part of the reason CJP keeps emphasizing he's two feet in with Dom. He can also count on a good many of us being fans when he leaves.
