That government is behind one of the bigger economic turnarounds in history, so maybe not.

Going from a third world country to an emerging economy doesn't warrant spending gazillions on one time sports extravaganzas.

From what I've heard the Birds Nest in China is starting to resemble a real birds nest. Atlanta and LA did a great job of using existing facilities and putting the new ones to future use.

Brazil is a different story, I doubt their stadiums end up like China's.

The challenge Brazil has is all the import tariffs that they have in place. Artificially protects the domestic industries from global competition. The quality of their local products is really bad. Had a two week swing through there last spring and it was a real eye opener.

According to si.com it's 0-0 in "Extra time."

Looks like an Extra Point kicking contest coming up to decide "World championship."

SO Exciting!

Rather watch Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars in December.

Well, you have to admit that it makes the MLB's "World Series" (sic) label seem kind of silly.

It was a good match, actually. Plenty of shots on goals and near misses. Germany was the better team so the outcome does reflect that.

Indeed, scoring is rather minimal in soccer. But the running clock and the lack of commercials and momentum-killing time outs tends to make up for it.

That was $.

I was disappointed with ABC's coverage of the game today. Not NEARLY enough crowd shots of hot babes in the stands. That's what makes the World Cup great: Hot foreign women.

ABC's grade for Sunday: D
