No Isiah Jones??? Brandon Williams or Zeek Bigger?
Who? Not a flame.
I know ECU fans have taken some heat for the "backups are better than starters" remarks a few weeks back, but these are two of the guys we were talking about.
Last year's starting inside linebackers Jeremy Grove and Kyle Tudor were both out for the VT and UNC games, and Biggers and Williams got the start in those games and in the eyes of many fans outplayed Grove and Tudor.
Grove ended up "retiring" at the end of the season due to injuries and Tudor graduated, so we expect big things from Biggers and Williams.
Thanks.

RE: Phil Steele Preseason All-AAC Announced
In 2006, he pegged Boise State as his top non-AQ team and said they'd make a BCS bowl. They did. The next year, he picked Hawaii to go 12-0 and make the Sugar Bowl. They did. The next year, he picked Utah as his top non-AQ team and they finished unbeaten and ranked #2. The next year, he picked Boise State again and they beat TCU in the Fiesta Bowl to finish #4. The next year, he picked TCU over Boise State and TCU finished their season by beating Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl and ranked #2.
In June 2012, Phil Steele picked UCF to finish as the top non-AQ team with a record of 11-1.
Although we didn't finish 2012 as the top non-AQ team (thanks Tulsa), we did fulfill his prediction the following year with the exact record he predicted.
There's certainly a method to his madness.

He also picked UCF to be a top 15 in 2011 finished 5-7 unranked..........
Never picked ECU to win CUSA in 08 or 09. He is good, but does miss too.
Also, had Cato first time last year and Carden second, Carden ended up being CUSA MVP.

And 6 of those 7 losses were by a touchdown or less. He was definitely onto something.

He also picked Tulane to go 12-0 in 1998.
But he started off as a magazine geared primarily to bettors. But because it was clearly the best magazine out there (it just had far, far more information than any other magazine), on bettors started buying hit and he shifted his focus away from the bettors. The trouble with that is that you lose some objectivity...betting is completely objective..no favorite teams, nor worrying about fans of which team buying your magazine.
So I think it's declined some, although it's still the best. And I don't really care about anyone's predictions. I just like the information and his magazine is replete with good information.

Didn't know that. Makes a lot of sense as those guys are typically money.

He does a ton of radio shows during the football season where he picks games against the spread, so he's still really interested in that. That satellite college football station has him on early Friday mornings during the season.

He always speaks very favorably of ECU when he's on Pirate radio and usually knows his stuff about the team and conference...I mean it's is job, but he's one of the better prepared guests.

Phil Steel is a genuis! He's always been right on about Houston. Predicted our 10-4 seasons in 2006 and 2009, and our 13-1 season in 2011.
