Have we fired Berry yet????

He has one year left on his contract and it appears he will neither be fired nor extended. He has to win big next season, or move on.

Rice loses a lot of seniors and likely drafted juniors this year. We potentially have a great recruiting class coming in but we'll have to sweat out at least one big-time hitter. I'm not saying that Rice's conference title streak can't continue, but next year might be a year when someone else in the conference can win it all.

Ugh.. so we're giving him another chance and then if we even get to teh regional..we have to suffer through a 3 year extension so we can go 1-for-7???

We need to just cut our losses now... and find someone who can TEACH the fundamentals!!!

It was overdue after last year....he is a deer in the headlights coach....he has taken small ball to an entirely different level of suck....and the fielding/base running decisions are beyond abysmal....

Fire him.

I'm wondering if he doesn't have two or three years left--one year extension for each conference championship???

Berry hasn't done anything since he got here.

1st year we needed Memphis to hit a 2 out walk off home run in the tournament to get to the Championship, which got us in a Regional.

2nd year we surpassed everyone's expectations and were in discussions for a National Seed until we blew it the last three weeks, going about 33 innings without a run, leading to an 0-2 exit in the Atlanta Regional.

3rd year we had a top 5 recruiting class coming in as Freshman and no one expected much, especially losing McInnis. No regional, but no one expected it.

4th year everyone expected a ton, but we fell flat on our faces. Pitching was awful, hitting was awful, nothing good to look at.

5th year...well we just finished it. Another disappointment.


Just nothing good from Berry.

Well we did make some money when TN bought out Tyndall's contract. Unless they keep that money in basketball they may allocate it to baseball to get rid of Berry. Hoping anyway...

The same people who got their feeling hurt when Fedora left and brought us EJ, wanted "one of us" to replace Corky and so we hired Berry without even looking at anyone else. Now we see the results of that nonsense. We'll see it again in basketball soon enough after we replaced Tyndall with a washed up never was.

Our athletic department is so poorly run it should be a crime.

Agreed 100%. Watching us squander everything we had built up over the course of just months is probably the single biggest display of incompetence I've ever witnessed. Of course, you've really got to wonder if the people who selected Shelby Thames, Giannini, Hammond, EJ, etc. wanted anything better. They're probably the kind of people who would sell their grandchildren into slavery just for the privilege of getting double-teamed by Vince Dooley and Mike Slive while Jackie Sherrill spit on them, i.e. typical Mississippi idiots.

Still waiting for a move by us to improve the program.

Andre, the people who selected Hammond are the opposite of the people who are doing the rest of that stuff. The group doing all the stuff you're talking about HATED Hammond because he called them on their crap.

Berry is staying. I would bet money he is given an extension after next season, which I'm sure will be as mediocre as this past one.

I've heard Berry will be allowed to finish his contract (through end of next season), but I've heard Calliet won't be as fortunate.

I've been to almost every game the past three seasons with a friend and we've both wondered how Caillet kept his job this long.
