RE: Obi Update
Rebounding the most transferable skills from team to team and even NCAA to the professional level, and since that was Obi's strength, just like with Arsalan, I don't think he'll be a flop, even at a school like Duke. Sure, he may not get as much playing time at Duke, but he will study under one of the best college coaches of all time.

RE: Obi Update
Okafor will likely be one-and-done, but I agree Obi probably wouldn't have been able to compete with him. I think he could be a solid second or third guy off the bench for Duke if he gets himself physically ready over the next year.
All in all, at least it appears he was only considering great academic schools (Michigan, Vanderbilt, Duke), which is better than the vast majority of our transfers have settled for. At least someone is reminding Obi that there will be a life after basketball for him, whether it's in a few years or 10+ years.

True. It's better than going from Rice to Valparaiso or Florida Gulf Coast or Northern Colorado (I could go on and on, but better stop here). This should also prove to Memphis Owl that we had at least one player who could have played for Harvard this past season.

Can't blame him here...Duke is a good school and an elite basketball school. Just not sure he'll get much of a chance to play/showcase his talent, if that's his goal

isn't his sitting out the default premise barring a hardship? the Duke depth chart should be irrelevant to that, right?

I think that is directed at me (not Memphis Owl). For the record, I acknowledged the possibility that Obi could have gotten minutes for Harvard.

RE: Obi Update
I don't know which Duke program people were watching this year. Duke had a couple of one-and-done forwards, and one second-year player, who played any significant front-court minutes. And those were their top 3 rebounders (the sophomore averaged 6.5 points per game, their 6th leading scorer).
The last few years, this team has been perimeter heavy, though they do get the occasional inside scorer. And when they do, they're more dangerous. Parker filled that role in some ways this year, but that wasn't exactly his game.
If Obi can get in shape and be able to play the defense that Duke demands, he could elevate them as a true inside threat. Even if it's on the second unit. Duke certainly hasn't had a second unit player who could provide an inside presence in quite a while.
Assuming Obi's offensive skills continue to grow.

Stumbled across a tweet from 4 days ago that Drew Bender ended up at University of Northern Colorado.
