Anywhere but El Paso again! If not Birmingham, Biloxi would be cool!

Even putting my green-colored glasses aside, Birmingham seems way more fun than El Paso, Biloxi and especially Shreveport

You've never been to Shreveport if you're talking trash....or you don't drink and gamble like I self admittedly do.

Hopefully we get it. By that time we should be jelling with our young team and can ride the home court advantage to a tourney championship and tourney bid!!

Not trying to talk trash about any city. I don't like to gamble, I love to drink though. I've been through Shreveport several times and I'll admit I didn't spend more than a day or two there, but in that case I was more commenting on the look and condition of the city than the entertainment options.

I would think that UAB has a pretty good shot at it with all of the revitalization efforts going on in the city. Could be a huge chance for Birmingham!

I would assume that Birmingham's bid would be for games at BJCC and not bartow.
Does anyone know?

I'm wondering where Charlotte and Norfolk are..

I think Birmingham/Nashville are ideal for the most central locations, especially among the top teams in the conference. Shreveport and Biloxi aren't terrible options either. The conference really needs to see what kind of attendance we can get in all of these areas, plus maybe a Dallas, and then start rotating the tournament through the ones that work out. El Paso has done a fine job every time from everything I've read, but not many people have the time/money to go all the way to El Paso for a few basketball games. Most of the eastern options are at least within driving range for many fans.

Yep. Women's early rounds would be at Bartow. Semi-finals and final at BJCC.

Charlotte hosts the CIAA for the next 6 years and the NCAA tournament next year.

It would be very difficult for us to host the CIAA tournament, CUSA tournament, and then the NCAA tournament in a single season. That would put the Hornets on the road for like 3 straight weeks. I don't think they would agree to that.

Maybe in 2015-2016 when we aren't hosting the NCAA tournament.

There are two other arena's in Charlotte (Halton arena on campus) and Bojangles Arena (about 2 miles out of the city), but neither is really in a great area for people visiting.

There isn't much going on around our campus and Bojangles Arena is 60 years old and in a pretty awful part of town.

It really has to be uptown if there is any chance for success and I just don't see that happening next year with the NCAA tournament in town.

I really hope that UAB is awarded the tournament because, barring a disastrous season, I will be there. B'ham is a reasonable drive from Charlotte and the arena's aren't way out in suburban areas away from all the entertainment.

Article from El Paso that says the tournament had a $4.5 Million economic impact for the city. I think it could be even greater for Birmingham with the location being better that El Paso for most teams. Hope Birmingham/UAB lands it.
