From CUSA Board
I don't know what's being proposed for Tech. But if it were me I'd do CenturyLink Center and the Gold Dome. They are 5 miles apart.

Those two arenas are part of the LA Tech bid. CenturyLink Center for the men's tournament and Centenary College's Gold Dome for the women. The opening reception would be at the Horseshoe Casino in Bossier City.

If UAB lands the tournament, could they then bid to host 1st/2nd round NCAA tournament at BJCC since D-1 games will have been played there? I miss those games at the Beej.

How long do we suspect it will take before a decision is made?

The BJCC will probably never host the NCAA 1st Round again.

Let me try that again...

The BJCC Arena, in its current state, will never again host any round of the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament.

Very happy with this decision. If it can't be Charlotte, I'm glad it is B'ham. Pretty easy drive and the sites are in good locations in the city.

I hope Birmingham knocks it out of the park and it makes it into the regular rotation.

When we say "its current state," is it a lipstick situation, or would we have to knock it down and start over to make it viable?

The Arena is outdated.

I don't believe that it would be a viable location without building a new arena.

There were several reasons the BJCC is no longer acceptable to host the NCAA tournament listed in a thread a while back. I don't really remember any of them, but they seemed to be "you need a new arena" types of issues.
