Baseball America refers to Shane as Sam. Smackdaddy refers to SHSU as Shane...

It started with the reference (in post #3 of this Game 2 thread) to the Baseball America Friday Roundup that touted how SAM Hoelscher had powered the Rice offense to victory over USM.

Then smackdaddy upped the ante by calling all the Owls "Sam" (post #17), to which Ranger added a Sam Cooke reference (post #19)

During the game (through post #68), "Sam" was mentioned 79 times in the thread. "Shane" was used only in posts 3,4 & 5 ... until post #96, when smackdaddy invoked symmetry and started referring to Sam Houston State as SHANE Houston State in the post-game RPI-impact & post-season-hosting discussion. :-)
