As an alternative to the official Gametracker, I got a link from this website. I think it is fan-based scoring using the GameChanger mobile app, which provides some good features to score games using a mobile device. I got a notice that I could get the scores vs USM for free, and it let me send out notices, so here's the link... Rice v. USM Gamechanger

Of course, embarassingly, it seems the scores have not been updated in three years... but, it seems like someone from USM first directed me to Gamechangers about three years ago, so I thought they may have up to date scores there, hence the email that I got...
Today's opposing starting pitcher...

C.Talley (JUCO, RHP): 9 starts, 3-2, 55.1 IP, 2.11 ERA, .263 BAA, 8 BBs, 48 Ks, 7 xtrabase hits

...he's got exceptional control, so we might as well be our usual ultra-aggressive selves at the plate. (We only walk when the opposing pitcher is nowhere near the strikezone.) However, he is hittable, having given up 56 hits in 55.1 IP, despite pitching against a relatively weak (#90th ranked) Strength of Schedule.

In addition to Hoelscher remaining hot, I expected big games from both Ewing and Teykl, both of whom were probably a bit weary last night after a day of travel to Hattiesburg (not to mention Connor's early morning exam).

Hopefully, Blake Fox returns to form today (as he was a bit off last weekend), and regains his usual command and stuff. Ditman will not be available today, but Teykl and McDowell should be well-rested and ready to go.

We're back up to #8 in RPI this morning. Let's maintain our position and clinch the weekend series today. Heart of champions. Go Owls!
From Baseball America:

(12) Rice at Southern Mississippi: Sam Hoelscher (3-for-4, R, 3 RBI, 2B) powered the Rice offense, while Kevin McCanna (5.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K) and Matt Ditman (3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K) sparkled in Rice’s 5-0 win.

I guess the Owls get no respect. I would love for Shane to have another big game and give BA a another chance to get his name right.

The announcer for the TV production of the Lamar game kept referring to Shane as Hoshler (with a long o). At least he got the Shane part right.

Way to go, Sam!
JP is the Picasso of announcers. His description of Warren's hit (?) was surreal. Maybe I mean Dali.

Baseball is different when allowing JP to direct the theater of the mind via his spoken word.
Way to go Sam!
If anyone can do play by play, it would be much appreciated. I can't get a good stream from JP.
Owls are down 1-0 going into 2nd off of a manufactured run by USM (Sac bunt followed by sac fly)
USM gets a lead off double and bunts him over to 3rd.

Fox escapes with a shallow fly and a K

Still 1-0 after 3
Top 4:

Ewing F9, hard hit that died at the track
McDowell F8
Hoelscher F9

USM leads 1-0, mid 4

Way to go, Fox! Mow 'em down!

Hmm, looking at USM's lineup and considering this weekend's big news out of the NBA, I'm not entirely comfortable with players named "Sterling" and "Lynch" batting back-to-back.
Bottom 4:

Roney K (#2 for Fox)
Budreaux 1b
Robinson reaches on 5-4 FC, Budreaux forced out
Robbins F4

Still 1-0 after 4
Top 5:

Teykl K (#6 for Talley)
Aquino 1b to right center
Stainback F9
Aquino CS

Eagles hold 1-0 lead at halfway point.
Sam Aquino with a one-out single in T5. Sam Stainback pops foul. Sam Cook up to bat. Let's go, Sam! Need a base hit here!!

EDIT: Nope, Sam caught trying to steal 2nd.
Bottom 5:

Dawson- F8
Kline- F7
Sterling- infield 1b
Lynch- 1b, Sterling advances to second
Durst- BB, bases loaded
Roney- L6

Hoelscher saves at least two runs, but the Mustard Buzzards still lead 1-0. To the sixth!

Sam Cooke needs to hit rather than singing "You send me."
WHEW! Blake loads the bases with 2-outs--single, single, walk--then induces a liner to Sam. On to T6, Owls down 1-0. Historically under Graham, Rice does not have a great winning percentage when it scores zero or fewer runs. Let's go, bats!!
