RE: App State Orlando Sentinel Ranking
I am very interested to see how App and us do this year. I make no predictions of greatness this year from either of us but I do believe within 3 years both of us will be challenging to win the Sun Belt.

My reaction is that the ranking is a bit low but in the scheme of things it isn't a big deal. I am more concerned, like others, where our ranking is at the end of the season.

I very much look forward to it, but neither will be gimmie games. Troy will have to bring their A games. ASU and GS are looking to make a big impression in their first season. GS at home on national TV would mean GS is bringing their A+++ game. I don't expect ASU to be a pushover either.

Still way too many losses to teams both of us shouldn't have lost to.
Going to be an interesting year with your new coach and our second year head coach.

If I had ever seen an egg being laid, it happened that day. I was there freezing my butt off wondering what in the hell just happened. Flashback to the dark ages.

That game may have been "the game" that saved the season and faith in Satterfield much like our victory over you guys in 2010. I knew your record up to that point did not reflect ability and talent.

Without the UF game, the season would have been a lame duck year, especially with Monken leaving.

Me either.

We were thinking that win had saved the jobs of the entire coaching staff although it needed some shaking up. Fortunately, with that win a situation developed and they moved on of their own accord.

I think in the long run, and to some extent maybe this season, it is good that the Monken era is over. He was great for us and put us back where we should be, but there just seemed to be alot of stuff that wasn't mixing well with his crew while we moved up.

We're not the third worst FBS team in 2014.

The most likely result for App is that you won't be in the bottom 3. But its hard to argue that a team (yea, I know y'all held back some talent last year) that didn't do that great in FCS is going to perform better than other teams that have more players. And your schedule isn't optimal either.

What do you think is App's base case (most likely), and "reach" predictions for this year?

There's a different way of looking at it. I think you should want the tough schedule so you grow.

Lets face it, even if you guys have a good year, you aren't really bowl eligible anyway.

I have no idea where we will land next year, but I would assume where ever any 4-6 win Sun Belt team would end up.

RE: App State Orlando Sentinel Ranking
Considering last year's results vs a FCS schedule and going into FBS I'd say that it is fairly accurate. We have question marks on the OL, WR, LB and in the secondary. I think there is some good young talent at those positions, but good and young against better FCS teams is tough enough, against FBS teams it's its very tough. Some of our more optimistic (unreasonable) fans are EXPECTING 6 wins. I honestly think we should be favored in 2 games, Campbell & Liberty. Beyond those I'm not counting any chickens before they hatch.

I suspect you may be favored in the Idaho and NMSU games as well by the time they come around, if they're on your schedule. I think you'll at the very least beat Liberty, Campbell (close up shop if you lose that one) and one of the two of Idaho/NMSU. But I wouldn't be surprised if you or GS had as many as 6 or 7 wins. 8 wins if it just turns out to be "your year" and surprise everyone in the league.

GS has a very easy road to at least 6 wins. This is not the SBC of 2011 and they round robin out of ASU and Louisiana. I believe Troy and ULM may be the only teams from the 2011 SBC and beyond that GS plays this year. That says a lot about how much the conference has changed and the incredibly easy schedule GS has. Not your typical move up schedule, so don't be surprised by 6 to 8 wins from GS.

No one knows how the season will turn out for anyone. Injuries can knock down the best team.
While hardly the best last year by far, have faith that we will be much improved.
Yep, sometimes you get the bear, and sometimes the bear gets you.

I'm seeing 4 wins, 5 or 6 depending on which of Troy, USA, GSU, or ULM you can sneak up on. I feel like Troy, USA, Texas State, ULM and GSU are all relatively equal. GSU will be improved, I'd bet.

Agree 100%, even on Liberty being a dangerous one.
