Is there an Independents board?
Would your ND brethren have a hissyfit if they changed the way players' eligibility was listed on the roster?
Yes, they would. Why?

Just kind of a running joke in my head now.
Would they be outraged if the football players looped their shoelaces over and through instead of under and through the holes?

The thread says ACC QB's.
It is relevant to this thread. And sorta half credit.
So would a UGA fan coming on this board talking about their QBs. Or any other fan of an ACC OOC opponent, which is what ND is.

I see what you did there. Notre Dame only has to play 5 games, but UGag must play 6?

RE: 2014 ACC QBs
Williams and Trubisky will split time this season. Trubisky is Fedora's recruit and it is so what obvious that Williams will have to split time with Trubisky.
With regard to ND, they are technically no longer independent. Their fans just don't know it or just unwilling to come to that conclusion. Since when does independent means being contractually obligated to play X amount of games. Really?

NBC contract = independent
Playoff eligibility = independent
7 games scheduling = independent
Orange Bowl eligibility = independent
ACC Champ ineligibility = independent
No ACC logos on field/uniforms = independent
It is pretty funny. Some on here take me to task for posting and ask "Is there an independents board?"
Others claim ND is no longer independent.
WVU/Big 12 fans claim ND is not a football member, but an independent with a "scheduling agreement" with the ACC for five games/yr.
I think that they are correct. ND is not an ACC football member.
But, it is funny how ND's status can instantly change on message boards (often in the same thread)based upon the motive, viewpoint or bias of the poster.

Notre Dame lives in the twilight zone - not really a full ACC member, but not really independent either.

So kinda like the "UnDead"?
Is it a rule schools have to put the ACC logo on their uniforms? Just wondering.

Based on what I've seen previously from Will Gardner and the fact that he's working with Petrino now, I'm cautiously optimistic. You always have unknowns with a new guy under center though and he's replacing Bridgewater of course.

Dude, not trying to get in a pissing match or try to offend. I am just curious on how anyone can define themselves as joining a conference for everything except for 3 football games and still think that is some sort of semblance of being independent in football. For me, being independent in football would mean no affiliation with any conference contractually.

Nor being dependent of leeching bowl slots off of the conference.

You asked. I answered.
Personally, if I could have my way, ND would be totally independent in all sports. I dislike the very idea of conferences.
I am old enough to remember the Seventies when ND football and basketball were both totally independent. I prefer that, to this.
But, I am not the Czar of the World, unfortunately.
Still, I think that everyone would agree that ND is not a full member of the ACC in football.
Or, am I wrong and it is?

We all know that's it's coming, what we don't know is when.
We all know that you and multitudes of Notre Dame fans don't like or want it, but it will come.
And face it nobody really knows how to define this transition stage or what to call it, but it will pass.
Field Turf?
What's next? A video board that comes with the stadium remodel?
Conference membership?..........say it ain't so!!

Jameis Winston, Florida State (SO)
Marquise Williams, North Carolina (JR)
Anthony Boone, Duke (SR)
Cole Stoudt, Clemson (SR)
Chad Voytik, Pittsburgh (SO)
Will Gardner, Louisville (SO)
Jacoby Brissett, NC State (JR)
Terrel Hunt, Syracuse (JR)
Justin Thomas, Georgia Tech (SO)
Kevin Olsen, Miami (FR)
Tyler Murphy, Boston College (SR)
Michael Brewer, Virginia Tech (JR)
Greyson Lambert, Virginia (SO)
Tyler Cameron, Wake Forest (SO)
I think Will Gardner will surprise people this year and become the second best QB in the ACC behind Jameis Winston of course. Bobby Petrino's offense is a perfect fit for him and will put up bigger numbers than Bridgewater did a year ago. I also see Kevin Olsen of Miami having a great freshman season and it helps to have Duke Johnson returning back from injury so Kevin can get comfortable in the "U" offense.

Watched the Gold/White game. It actually made me EVEN MORE pessimistic about this season. Four fumbles by the 8:00 mark in the 1st. Yea ... it was a cold driving rain. But a fumble every 2 minutes of game clock? FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
