RE: Rice @ Tulane (Sunday, Game 3)
DiMaggio grounds out.
Rogers continues the 4th with a grounder past one Teykl to the other Teykl for out number two. But Willsey is hit.
Carthon rolls into a force at second for out number three.

To the fifth.

Aquino goes down on three pitches, K. It seems Yandell has a 0.00 ERA but has pitched only 5.1 innngs before today.

Hunter walks with one out and then Warren singles again, bringing up Ford Stainback.

Stainback grounds into a FC, bringing in Hunter, who had moved to third on Warren's single. 10-5 Owls now.Two outs for Cook.

Cook rolls one to the pitcher, I think, and ends our half of the fifth with the Owls still leading by 5, 10-5.

Teykl is still pitching and still steady as he quickly sets down the Wave and the Owls get another double play although he yielded a walk.
To the sixth.

Hey, Yandell is gone and we get to pitcher number 4, Zamjahn, whose name I believe might be made up.

Ewing greets him with a single to left. Yandell gave up one earned run so he now has an earned run average.

Hoelscher goes to 3-2 (with Ewing running on 3-1) before fouling off a bunch of pitches in a really long at bat, to finally fly out to right for out number one.

Teykl, with a runner on first, runs the count to 2-2 before fanning.

Two outs for McDowell, who Ks.

We are still in the sixth. Time for the Green Wave to bat.

I would think Tekyl is getting tired. This is probably his longest outing. And having given up two straight walks, I think I would turn to the pen.

They do - Duplantier. Actually he went a bit longer against Texas but that was on Tuesday so it's been a long week for him. A very, very good week however.

Let's hope Duplantier has his control. He seems to do well when he has it.

So is it greedy to want a double play here?

Think I would go to the pen again. Back to back singles to the 8, 9 batters and then a bases loaded four pitch walk. D does not have it today. 10-7.

RE: Rice @ Tulane (Sunday, Game 3)
Teykl returns in the sixth and gets Hope to fly out routinely to center for out number one.

Kaplan walks to put one on with one out. Coach Hallmark comes out to discuss high and low socks and the possible return of stirrup socks.

DiMaggio, not Joe or Dominic but Nick, works the count to full, then fails to cooperate by taking a walk, putting runners on first and second with only one out.

That's it for Teykl who gave up 2 runs on only two hits in 5 innings of work. Sounds like a starter.

Duplantier comes in as the Owl's third pitcher with a two on two out mess to clean up. At this point the Owls still lead by five 10-5.

Uh-oh, a clean single by Rogers loads the bases with one out. Paging the DP ball.

But no, a single moves everybody up a base, now 10-6 with the bases still juiced. Only one out.

Carthon, the lead off hitter, goes to 3-0 before walking for a run, 10-7 with the bases still loaded.

The go-ahead run comes to bat in the person of Alemais who thankfully grounds into a DP to end the threat. It's 10-7 going to the seventh.

Let's not forget about older brother Vince.

This Zamjahn kid is striking all of our guys out. I guess Tulane has found a new pitcher.

Now, everybody has a hit. Awesome.

An insurance run (or two) would be nice.

RE: Rice @ Tulane (Sunday, Game 3)
Michael Aquino starts off the seventh with another K, this of the swinging variety.

Kopycinski also Ks swinging for two quick outs. Slimjim must have some pitch(es) going for him.

Warren steps in with two out and singles, his 4th hit of the game.

Stainback singles on the hit and run, finally joining the hit parade.

But, Cook grounds out, ending the Rice Seventh.

Time for the seventh inning stretch. Yawn. 10-7 Owls.

Wonder if Dittman could go an inning. He only pitched 2 2/3 innings, although it was on two separate occasions.

I think it is incredibly important that we get the sweep.

Everyone, but Duplantier shouldn't need the help...

Tulane always seems to have Hope (at least for a couple of years, baring a transfer).
