RE: What is the possibility of a Football NIT?

And a Go5 playoff especially. The appeal of a Go5 playoff to pick the best Go5 champion would be limited in any event. And as it stands now, the best of the Go5 gets a ticket to one of the Access bowls ... nobody would give that up in order to participate in a Go5 playoff, and the interest in a Go5 playoff to be the second best Go5 champion would draw even less interest than a Go5 playoff to be the best Go5 champion.
Why mess up a system that works?
I've been to the GoDaddy, the New Orleans, the Independence, the Liberty, and the BCS Championship, some as a fan, some just to watch some football, the bowl experience is fan friendly. You have plenty of time to plan and there are usually side activities to attend that add to the fun.
Look at basketball where it isn't unusual for a school to tell the CBI or CIT, "no thanks" and it has even happened from time to time for the NIT.
You don't see schools turning down bowls very often even when a school was so disappointed in the year that they fired the coach.

You don't need another tournament for that. Just let schools like Alabama play in more than one bowl game. As long as they are scheduled more than a week apart, you're only taking away a bowl opportunity for a lesser team that doesn't deserve it. No big deal, right?
Exactly. More money for Alabamas (just an example), less money for NIUs.

Right. You're not going to see a 6-6 Ole Miss wanting to play at a 9-3 stAte rather than play a 6-6 K-State or Virginia in El Paso or Shreveport or Birmingham or Albuquerque or Mobile. *Maybe* they'd prefer another home game to a bowl game, but probably not.
And if Arky State fans aren't excited to play the Utah STate-Marshall winner, how excited do you expect Utah State or Marshall fans to be about playing stAte?
Most of the problems (if they even are problems) with the current bowl system are being taken care of by ESPN squeezing out the bowl committees. If ESPN Regional TV can run a bunch of G5 bowls, and run the Houston bowl matching SEC vs Big 12, not to mention the neutral-site kickoff games, then they can run the Liberty Bowl or the Belk Bowl, etc. That's bad news for the bowl committee officials.
