Expansion Number more important than expansion names
Because there are no more big named programs that are likely to switch conference affliation anytime in the near (or distant) future.....I've grow less weary of who might join the BEast and more concerned about the potential number (if any). If we were to expand I would like for it to be no more than one member and it would be idea for than new football member to come from within the ranks.
Primary reason is nine teams would mean 8 conference games and 4 OOC games. IDEA. Every team should then play one team that is usually ranked, one strong middle of the road BCS conference team and two LSOTP Teams (Little Sister Of The Poor), Every team should be able to go at least 2 - 2, a good team should be able to go at least 3 - 1, and an excellent team should be able to go 4 - 0. Then it would be up to each team to wade through the conference the best they can. Within the next couple of years we should keep at least four teams in the rankings which means everyone will play at least one OOC ranked team and three in conference ranked teams. Critics begone.

Playing your so-called LSOTP teams is demeaning to both the team offering itself as a whipping boy, and the team doing the whipping for money.

That's fine, but it implicates all 119 teams. And it isn't fundamentally changing anytime soon because both sides have something to offer the other.

I agree we do not need a Duke or Temple quality team in the Big East. WE probably need to ask Providence and Seaton Hall to find a new home and add two from the following"

Memphis
UCF

I fail to see why the BE needs to expand. Just so the teams can have one more conference game rather than an OOC game? What does that accomplish other than ADs would have one less game to schedule?
We can talk about what teams should do in their scheduling, but it is usually done a few years in advance anyway. Rankings can change in a month. And no basketball school is going to be kicked to the curb for one team to play football. There is too much conference tradition in all sports to do something extreme like that.

Bottom line UC is a basketball school and likes the current set up. Those that have higher standards for football, want a stronger football group. UC needs to start improving there attendance because it sre looks midmajor.

Too early to tell. If you see Nova get serious about moving up, it means the split is coming and they don't want to get left behind. Personally, I hope when the time comes, the entire resume is examined. History, committment, and potential. USF looks like a good call now. With their large alumni base and recruiting base, they look like a solid team now with potential to become a great team in the near term.
Right now the FB schools can split with no penalty in 2010. The next level of negotiations will be whether they have the right to leave later. If the BB schools aren't willing to give them an out down the road, they might jump in 2010 to avoid beng locked in.

I just dont see it happening... the prez are pretty conservative.. and will stand pat. the biggest reason I would see for adding a # 9 for football only... would be protection against another raid.. ie big 10+1 going to 12.

All 119 teams are implicated. That was the whole point. And those teams who are pricing those games out of reach are commiting felonies.

Nothing like the attendance argument to make you sound like a Memphis fan.
