RE: Lamar at Rice 3-26-14
Kevin getting into a nice groove with another 1-2-3 inning (ground out, strikeoutKKKKK, fly out). Let's go for the kill here...
Sr RHP JT Autrey now in for Lamar (8 app, 3 starts, 2-1, 20.1 IP, 3.10 ERA, .203 BAA, 10 BBs, 5 HBP, 23 Ks)...
Warren tough luck ground out-- deflected off pitcher right to SS.
Byrd strikes out for the 3rd consecutive time. Ugh.
Cook struck out. Good grief.
Good guys lead 3-0 heading to the top of the sixth inning.

Leadoff double down 3b line. 5-3 groundout, runner holds. Then a K!
RBI double to deep center. Mound conference, but no pitching change.

Another K to end T6, but this time a runner in scoring position with no outs costs. 3-1 Rice, mid sixth.

RE: Lamar at Rice 3-26-14
A couple hard hit doubles (Lamar has 3 doubles tonight) scores one run, but Kevin gets a couple strikeoutsKKKKKKK to strand that second runner. I'm not sure if he has enough gas to go another inning. I trust we have a couple guys warmed up and ready to go? Come on, offense, time to wake up again.
New Lamar pitcher, So RHP Jayson McKinley (7 app, 2 starts, 1-1, 24.0 IP, 2.62 ERA, .292 BAA, 28 hits, 9 BBs, 18 Ks)...
Ewing flied out to CF.
Reeves flied out to CF.
Hoelscher flied out to RF.
Geez, that was quick. Would it kill us if we tried to take a couple pitches?
Our offense has been asleep save for one inning against not exactly elite pitching, or even very good pitching. Very disappointing. We're letting these guys hang around.
Good guys lead 3-1 heading to the top of the seventh inning.

I hope Wayne has Ditman ready to go, as Teykl has had major troubles finding the strikezone his last 2 - 3 outings. Throw strikes, guys!

RE: Lamar at Rice 3-26-14
Quick 1-2-3 inning for Trevor (ground out, strikeoutK, fly out). Excellent! Now let's get a couple insurance run.
Aquino flied out to RF. 4 consecutive fly balls.
Taylor flied out to RF. This is getting ridiculous.
Stainback ground out to P.
Five 1-2-3 innings in 7 innings of play against a sub-par team and pitching staff. Just one walk against a team walking 6 guys a game on average. Just embarrassing.
Good guys lead 3-1 heading to the top of the eighth inning.

Geez, another leadoff double. Lamar has 6 hits and 4 doubles. We have 6 hits, and only one hit off the ground.

Sub-par team that has the capability of beating UH.
Rough night for Leon. Error brings in an unearned run to make it 3-2 Rice.

RE: Lamar at Rice 3-26-14
Gotta feel bad for Trevor, who actually pitched quite well, aside from that leadoff double. Our offense and defense is letting Lamar not only hang around, but get back into this game. Come on, guys-- wake up before it's too late.
LHP Warren pitching for Lamar (4.70 ERA, 10 app, 2-1, 18.1 IP)...
Warren struck out..
Byrd just a night to forget-- his fourth consecutive K for the Golden Sombrero. Yikes!
Cook strikes out.
We strike out the side by a pitcher who had 7 Ks in his previous 18.1 IP. What is with this offense???
Good guys take a precarious 3-2 lead into the top of the ninth inning. I'm assuming Matt Ditman will be coming in to try to close this thing out.

Ballgame! Owls win!
Great job by both Kevin in his solid start (6 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 7 K) and Trevor to close this thing out (3 IP, 1 R (unearned), 1 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks). Hopefully the offense gets going again against Middle Tennessee, but 3 was enough tonight.
