And here comes another member of the fan police telling us how to be a proper Tiger fan.

Really? I kind of agree with him.

Cincy played great D. Couldn't make shots. Going home.

Cincy did not play great D. They left the 3-ball open and couldn't clog-up the inside and beat harvard with their physical play. Like they did to us. Twice.

And they gave up 61 points. 7 of those in the last minute at the FT line. You were saying?

I'm not sure what your point is. Harvard revels in low scoring games much like cincy. Relative to other games, Cincy did not play as well on D. Their D was not nearly as good as it was when they played us (part of that is our fault for forcing some shots). They played one of the better scoring D's in the country in Harvard and Harvard got a lot of 2nd chance shots late.

Kudos to Harvard and their coach for his gameplan.

Are some of you suggesting that he needs to give a detailed explanation about defensive issues every single time? He addressed rotations and communication and the like many times.

He needs (and surely is) to be preparing for what GW does well- and practice defending that- or- perhaps he can spend a lot f time specifically analyzing publicly anything that did not go well (or that did go well).

All coaches coach speak.

You simply do not pay as much attention to others- and that is natural.

I didn't hear it, but if that's what he said, I agree. There's enough pressure on them already with the way we finished. No need to add to that. Just go out, play ball, and have some fun. For at least five of these guys, it may be the last chance they have.

I heard that line and it struck me as strange without further clarification.

The expectations in the post season are not nearly as high after the ups and downs of the past few weeks. It's a good opportunity to meet or exceed.

I hear ya.

Well, it's basically a true statement. The guards haven't shot the ball well for most of the season so, most teams pack it in to take away Shaq and Nichols and dare us to beat them from the outside.

If we can find the range at all, we can beat anybody. Unfortunately it's been a tough, streaky shooting year. I'm as surprised as JP at how many games all 4 or 3 of the 4 haven't been able to throw it in the ocean.

Maybe they will relax, embrace the moment, and show us the team we thought we'd have.

This group of Tigers imo, seem to play tight or apprehensive more than past Tiger teams. Maybe it's just me but it seems that way.

To me, the alpha dog leadership that someone mentioned is a problem on the court during the game, not on the sideline. The freshman class with Joe and Chris didn't have an upperclassman to lead them and it cost us some games the first couple of years. We still don;t have it. Just a collection of pretty good college players that are dangerous when focused and playing defense.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest TigerBill was addressing his "snarky" comment to TigersRuleAll.

It is interesting how many TIGER fans refuse to listen to Pastner beyond certain select phrases, or for only 30 seconds, and not the entire interview.

Hey, to each his own. But don't dog the man out on what you THINK he said when you didn't even listen. That's just flat out bashing based on past observations.

As I recall, we had fans after the win at Louisville complaining about how Pastner responded to the heckling Card fans walking off the court. Seriously, think about that for a second. The TIGERS won a critical game at Louisville, yet we had fans b!tching about Pastner's defending his team to the sore loser Card fans at the KFC Center.

And here I sit, perplexed; thinking it was just ME that wondered that.

While it is hard to listen to...some of the logic is sound.
DON'T give the other team any bulletin board material.
(See Chris Crawford's "tight buttholes" remark. Southern Miss was gunning for us for awhile after he said that)
But yeah....I can agree...it is sometimes hard to listen to the same ole..same ole responses. I think maybe he needs a media trainer/pr guy/gal to help him change his responses up a bit to help him be taken more seriously.

I understand I guess, he's being safe and that makes sense. But I would love to see him take a page from Dana Kirk, who was always funny and often taught in interviews and gave pointers.

I listened to Coach Pastner's interview with Drake and Zeke yesterday. He talked quite a bit about defense. He explained that with the new hand check rule (basically you get a foul called if you even touch the guy with the ball), the Tigers really tried to prepare for that. They even brought referees into practice. Then as the season has gone on, the calls on this new rule have been inconsistent. He said that Mick Cronin told him they did nothing to prepare for the new rule and he told his guys to not change a thing. If you're interested in hearing the whole interview, here's the link: http://drakezeke.memphiscloud.com/category/podcast/
Go to part 2 of 3/20 and go to 19:30 minute mark.

Disagree. 'Huge' a Tiger fans don't sit around in their parents basement waiting for every chance they can to bash on a TIGER coach. Many times making stuff up or better yet lying like cheap carpet to do so

Go to part 2 of 3/20 and go to 19:30 minute mark.

He discussed this in length in his radio show last Monday as well. He said we spent all off season and this season preparing for the new rule, but the refs aren't applying it in any consistent form whatsoever. He said if he could do it all over again he would go back to the beginning and just scrap it all together and play like we've always played because it's only hurt us. This is a significant reason our defense has suffered at times because Josh follows the letter of the law while coach's like Cronin don't until they are forced to. Josh is still figuring that part of coaching out.

Great info, that explains a lot!
