Irvine is far from a bad team. Done a great job this second half so far.

I only liked Duke because of the surprisingly good words coach K spoke towards ECU this past season in the tournament.
I have no issues with Duke however, in fact I respect them as institution not as a basketball program.

Great win. Would have been easy for the guys to be down about the situation and lost to a pretty decent Irvine team. Showed a lot of poise, especially after they started extremely hot and you guys started slowly.

SMU! SMU!
Solid game, great atmosphere. Got to love seeing drunk students on camera, haha. This is what separates good teams from great teams...Y'all could've been a good team who was snubbed from the NCAA, come out feeling sorry for yourselves and just been remembered as "that good SMU team who got snubbed." Instead it looks like after the half SMU picked themselves up to prove they're really a great team. Hoping y'all go all the way!

I've been depressed and haven't posted since I got back from Memphis, but that was really fun tonight. Helped me forget about the snub, and SMU home games are a BLAST!
BEAT LSU!

RE: SMU - UC Irvine Game Thread
Just got back from the game. Team had difficulty getting motivated, and looked like they didn't want to be there. . . Hell, I had difficulty cheering them on, and not wanting to be there. . . Pounded 2 beers at tipoff, and within 15 minutes was back at the beer stand for 2 more. . . 4 beers in 15 minutes got my motor running, and put me in the right frame of mind

RE: SMU - UC Irvine Game Thread
Not only did SMU not make the NCAA Tournament. But, I think the officials working this game must not have been NCAA Tournament ready either. . . And my team won the game.
Within a couple of minutes in the 2nd half. SMU's Nic Moore shot 2 FT on a non-shooting foul, even though it was only the 6th team foul on UC-Irvine. The officials realized their mistake after a few minutes of game clock had passed. And took the 2 points away at the next dead ball timeout.
Next, the officials called a foul on one of the Cal-Irvine players. After another few minutes of game clock had passed, and at the next dead ball. The officials went over to the PA guy, and their was an announcement that it wasn't a foul after all.
Finally, SMU's Nic Moore and grabbed a rebound under his team's basket, and threw a full length pass down court to his teammates. All the Irvine players, SMU players, and other 2 officials were all in the frontcourt, or near centercourt. Think the SMU player had scored. Another stoppage from the one lone official, that Nic Moore had stepped out of bounds before throwing the pass. Guess he didn't blow the whistle or something.
Holy Hell! They were brutal. Like someone hired them off the street, and asked the question: Have you ever officiated a sporting event? When the reply is no, the guy says: Congratulations! You're hired.

Way to go SMU. It was natural for them to start slow after being snubbed by NCAA select dorks.

I must admit, I have never seen that before, nor did I think this was possible. (I still don't.) Once a foul is called, you cant go back and review it ad determine it wasn't a foul. They can review it to determine it wasn't a flagrant, but it would still be a foul.
Also, that dude from UC Irvine was freakishly tall. He went to hug his point guard, and the PG didn't even come up to his waist.
