All you do is spew negativity about Watson.

Actually I've been accused of the opposite. I am the least negative about him.

Not true. Indiana fans went ballistic when he was caught smiling/laughing after getting knocked out of the Big 10 tournament.

I believe a team from the First Four has made it to the Round of 32 every year since it existed.

I have no problem with Martelli. Considering what I suspect Davis was doing, Martelli could have done us some real damage by opening up and complaining about tampering. Instead, he kept quiet, kept to his guns and withstood some bad publicity.

It would have been nice to get the player, although I doubt he would have helped, but not if Davis was illegally recruiting him.

By the way, I noticed that Davis's best player is a transfer from West Virginia.

I agree. There was always more to this story then we heard in the media, and I think Martelli probably had a very good reason for doing what he did. Davis lived off of graduate transfers more than any coach I've ever seen, and I don't believe for a minute that everything he did to get those guys was clean.

Good article on Texas Southern, the SWAC and Mike Davis

Quote:Davis stood at midcourt on Saturday, embraced one and two at a time by his players, and his long, almost mournful face lit up with a smile. “It’s special because I didn’t have a job,” Davis said. “I’m just happy that Texas Southern gave me that opportunity. It’s been a long road. I mean, my last year at UAB, I wasn’t very good. I lost my mom. I lost my two nephews within a three-month period. It’s been real tough on me for the last couple of years. But these guys gave me the opportunity to coach, and they listened to me, and the program believed in me. I’ve been so happy, just to be in Houston.”
