2015 CUSA Basketball Tournament location
Any word on potential host schools and when an announcement will be made? I read that LaTech is planning on making a bid. I also read that Nashville could be a potential host site for 2017 (SEC has it the next 2 seasons). IMO Nashville may be the ideal location going forward (touristy, somewhat of a central location, nice facilities, etc) but would still like to see it held in Birmingham sometime soon.

LOL I think we would draw slightly more than that here.

It's not going to be very well attended unless the host team does well. Just go with whoever offers the most money.

We could hold it at the Bart.

This tourney needs to come back to Birmingham. We could host it at Bartow Arena. The BJCC is too big for this conference.

+1 for Nashville. The hot team needs to host the tourney.

And Bartow is too small. It's not just the fans. There has to be room for media, etc.

If Birmingham ever hosts it. Men will be at BJCC and women will be at Bartow.

Good point. Speaking of the women's tourney, did you happen to see the venue for the women in El Paso? I have a picture that UAB's Band Director posted on the first day of the tourney. It looked like a very old high school gym. Maybe Smaug can chime in since his daughter was there.

The women deserve to play in a venue that is just as good and nice as the men. Just that simple.

We could have the men's tourney at the BJCC and the women could play at Bartow Arena. That would work out very well. Plus, UAB hosted the very first CUSA women's tournament so it's not like it hasn't been done before.

I'm surprised Dallas doesn't get more attention. League offices are located in Irving and North Texas is in Denton, and the bball arena there seats over 10,000.

No way at the Bart.
I worked the tournament the last time it was in Bham. It wasn't until then that I realized how much space a conference tourney needs. With the media and multiple teams dressing at the same time, you'd have to utilize the Bart, plus another bldg. (?football locker room?)...which I guess could work, but I have a hard time seeing it

Well, Dallas is a bit more central than El Paso.

The women played their first rounds at Memorial Gym, home court of the 1966 Texas Western team. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Gy...t_El_Paso)

Football is moving out of the Bart soon. I bet that would help.

Today's games are at the Haskin's Center.

I have not been in it for years, but the Harris Arena might do for WBB while the MBB is played at the BJCC. Lots of parking out there too. What has been the WBB attendance in El Paso?

Might work if North Texas is ever worth a damn in basketball.

There are no other schools close to Dallas. Rice would be the closest and that's still a ways

Needs to be located in an area that gives a crap about CUSA.

When someone finds that area, let us know.
