Got a feeling we may never see him in a Tiger uniform again This is part of the assistant coaching problem and truly teaching these kids about their roles and responsibilities Heck our coaches are changing so fast there is no real system in place to teach players their roles You cant really blame Kuran for looking lost when Chris Crawford a senior appears lost if he isnt standing in the corner or at the top of the key Defensively our whole team looked lost yesterday Our staff needs some teachers and stability jmo

If true, who could blame him. Highly recruited freshman and Pastner just buried him early in the year so we could make sure all the seniors got their minutes to try to audition for the NBA.

How'd that work out for everyone?

That's about how I see it too.

I hope so. I'd love to have him back. But we've lived through these team absences before with Carmouche. I just wouldn't blame him if he transferred. Where is he going to get minutes? Pastner refuses to play big even with a glut of good 3-5 players. Who knows if we'll abandon 3 guards next year? We might have 3 completely green guards out there while King and Iverson sit on the bench wondering what the hell is going on

I wouldn't either, really.

This thread will be funny if he's really sick and that's all there is to it ... Not to mention if we make the Elite 8.

You got a source?

No. I need one? I've seen enough frustration on his part and the things he's said to speculate he's not happy. My guess is he and Wilson are going to transfer. They want to play. They see seniors pouting and they get to play, while they get buried on the bench. They have talent.

Iverson has the most upside of any player on this team. He's raw but he has tremendous ability. He's not been developed.

I'd leave.

Funny....potential back court next year...Pookie, Damien, Magee, Avery Woodson, Markel, ....I would hope Iverson might think he could find some playing time amongst that group...

I just can't see it this way.

He had chances.

To my recollection, nearly every time he'd go in, we'd give up a bucket or a run, or he'd put up an ill-advised shot.

His talent is immense and undeniable. But it would be hard for anyone to say he was "ready for prime time" this season, with a straight face, based on his performance in the games.

Again, lots of talent, lots of gifts, lots of potential. But he was not ready THIS season to help a high-level team.

If we're willing to let seniors go one on three fast breaks, launch ridiculous three pointers with 25 seconds on the shot clock, not play defense, then why should a kid with more talent than all of them not get a chance to develop?

Sorry but I think we screwed the pooch on this one. This kid has way too much talent to be made an example of. Bad examples have been set.

When you have a team that quit like they did last night, the best example you could have set was to sit the starters and let the kids play their guts out.

Iverson may have a stupid basketball IQ at this part of his development(coaches are responsible for that too), but he looked like he was trying when he was in there. If you want to set an example to the entire team then let the kids who play their guts out play. Especially on a team that seems to play when they feel like it.

Coincidentally, the defense was on 4% as well.

Tell me UAB's projected NCAA seed again?

It is the job of the HC & staff to develop players so they can contribute. If you’re too afraid to give them PT early they usually lose confidence and NEVER fully develop.

I never bought into the 3-4 guard sets that Josh was hell-bent on using. Yeah they are all seniors but this also meant they probably had already hit their ceiling. I think this is why other teams have improved while we remain woefully stagnant, inconsistent, and unmotivated.

Having your reserves and newbies ready to help at this time of the season is a must if you wish to continue playing.

Damien Is not a good enough player to wear a Memphis uniform.

He is an arkansas state starter at best.

Bad recruit by Josh.

He looked pretty good last year - haven't seen much of him this year, with the emphasis on a small guard offense.

Rotations shorten at the end of the season for every good team.

I don't buy the notion that any player should get playing time to "build confidence." You earn playing time by contributing.

I agree, but it is hard to contribute by just being a cheerleader on the pine. Maybe it is different in the practices. But these newbies need some floor time, and they didn't get any at the beginning of the season while CJP was trying to figure out how to play all of the "senior talent".

It's the responsibility of HC and staff to win games.

This year....the team underachieved so far. However we stayed in the polls from start to finish. That is still impressive to some degree.

As for winning next year, whether iverson is here or not (it seems more likely that he will not) ......well that is yet to be determined.

None. You know and I know that if a player can play he will get time on the court. He will get plenty of chances next year if he sticks around.

Have you watched the kid play? You're ridiculous, and even you can't say that you'd give him more PT if you were the coach.

The kid has potential but right now, that's all he's got. King gets time, Nichols gets time, Dom gets time. They can contribute, Iverson simply can't right now. I hope he sticks around to improve here, but if he goes, even you can't say that's a huge loss. Some guys don't pan out.

Personally, I don't think KI is a backcourt player anyway... He can't handle the ball, he's way too slow and can't shoot. I swear I don't know why some of you think this guy is any kind of guard or wing player. If he can't or doesn't want to play the 4 he needs to transfer.
