I was dissapointed that Marshall, Tulane, FAU, and ECU didn't have their bands. I understand the travel problems, just wish they would have been there. I have spokent to fans from UNT, USM, ODU and Tulsa so far and all have been great. The best band has been ODU and it isn't even close. The best cheer/dance teams were from UAB. I have been a little dissappointed in the attendence. It hasn't been bad but it was much better four years ago. It think todays games will have really good attendence and I am looking forward to meeting/talking to other schools fans. I am in section C row 6 if anyone cares to stop by.
UAB's cheer and dance team took a bus from Birmingham to El Paso. They were cheering that they were off the bus.
When did they leave The 'Ham ? February ?

We went there for dinner, it was fantastic! Top Sirloin tacos with all the salsa.
Yeah. Salsa bar is the best. Everything from mild for the out of towners to extra hot for the experienced types.

RE: Tournament experience
Its been a pleasure playing alongside Blue Trombone and Monarchz these past four years. I have had a blast playing at Foreman Field, The Ted, and everywhere in between. If the music we played made a positive impact on at least one fan, athlete, administrator, student, or alum, I will have considered my time with the band a success. God Bless you all for the support and constructive criticism.

Your crowd reminds me of and don't kill me for saying it because it is a compliment, Memphis. Good band and nice fans.

I bet we have a lot of "old farts" there (my old man, is one)
I wish we had as many fans as Memphis State.

Glad to hear our fans are making their presence known. We always had the largest support in the Sun Belt tournaments, and I expect the same in CUSA. Our traveling fan base is quite large, and I know our fans get rowdy. Go Blue!

When I was in pep band, the Associate AD at the time told us that the pep band would only travel to NCAA tourney games. He told us that it wouldn't be worth a one day trip to Memphis or El Paso because we were almost assured a loss in the first round.

That's a silly policy. The basketball band exists to support the team! What point is there if you don't support them in the tournament, which the season builds to?
Even at Miami we go to the ACC tournament even if we expect to lose the first game.

I never said it was a good policy. If was just the way it was. Somewhere down the line they decided that money would be better spent on sending the Marching Band to big OOC games, conf championships, and bowl games.
My second year we went to Orlando for the womens tourney. After that we watched at the crib.

I loved the La. Tech band. They were always doing something, even if it was clapping to the beat of the other teams song. They cheered the other teams band and were great with the UTEP fans. You guys have the best band director around and it isn't even close.

One of the bands (can't remember which one) chanted "block that kick" while one of our players was shooting a free throw...made me chuckle

It was a fun trip. The arena needs some work, like that empty academic wall of excellence. The UTEP fans were awesome and very polite. Food was outstanding. It's an interesting area. I just wish more people had gone, but I can't complain since Tulsa wasn't really that different attendance wise. I'd go back. I wish UTEP was coming with us to this boondoggle league.

Would SJ be there too?
In that case. NO!
