The logical approach is to examine won/loss versus top 25 and top 50. Without a single victory against a top 25, a team should not be seeded higher than a 3 seed. Without a single victory over a top 10, a team should not be allowed a 1 seed. But the politics will prevail.

I hope they do not use the "eye" test which is the slothful person's shortcut to doing the hard work of analysis. The eye test is highly subjective and invalid because it is impossible for one person to obtain a representative sampling of 68 plus teams.

The selection committee can use whatever they want, but its always seemed to me that they use RPI to basically organize everyone into groups, then they start comparing resumes. All about who'd you play, where'd you play, and how'd you do.

Margin of victory is etremely important in evaluating how good a team is. One of the most important factors, in fact.
