RE: Round 2 - NIU vs EMU predictions
Tonight with EMU/Toledo such a good example of how playing 4 games in 5 days is so hard, EMU could beat UT but just ran out of energy.

RE: Round 2 - NIU vs EMU predictions
If this was Toledo's 4th game and EMU's 1st game, EMU would win easily. This tourney set-up is a joke!

I have a feeling you'd be all for it if NIU was a Top 2 seed.

Its really tough because I so agree the better seeds should be rewarded, and I don't have a problem with the lower seeds having to play that many more games, its just the short time span which is not fair and frankly possibly dangerous to the players to play 4 games in 5 days with all that travel factored in. There has to be some type of happy medium in there.
Here would be my proposal. Scrap the campus site games, don't invite the 11 and 12 seeds. Play 4 games Wednesday with the top 2 seeds getting double byes. Play 2 games Thursday pairing the winners of the 4 games Wednesday. Play your semis on Friday with seeds 1 and 2 playing, and then the championship Saturday. I really think this is fairest solution, you save the travel and plus you eliminate one game for the lower seeds while preserving the fact the top 2 seeds only have to win 2 games. I also like having the 4 games in one day at Cleveland because it provides more of that conference tournament flavor to it, the coming together of fanbases. I just don't think you get that right now.

I feel like EMU will be a factor, I could see the preseason poll next year for the west like this
1) Toledo
2) WMU
3t) NIU
3t) EMU
5) CMU
6) BSU
Having said that though , how it will end, I see it as
1t) Toledo
1t) NIU
3t) WMU
3t) EMU
5) CMU
6) BSU
Keep underestimating my Broncos :) I love the underdog role.
Underestimating? I projected them to win this tournament ever since their trip into DeKalb, and projecting them 2nd next year after losing one of the most dominant players in the MAC I hardly call underestimating, that's giving them credit for being in the race even with that loss.
I'll tell you though, watching this MAC tourney, its good basketball, but there is absolutely no reason, none at all, that NIU should not be at the top or fighting for a top spot next year. The door is open for the dawgs! Carpe diem
Wasn't necessarily directed right at you. Though you could be guilty of underestimating my Broncos for next season, and we aren't even done with this year yet.
General message is that it seems to be a theme...underestimating WMU.

IF, NIU was a top 2 seed, I would still think it was a unfair set up.

Someone on the main MAC board had a point that its the darn women's tournament that is likely forcing this unfair scenario. I think that's probably right.

No. Being a one bid league is why it is this way.

I was talking about the fact that more games are not played in Cleveland.

I think all games should be played at the home of the highest seed as they do in the MAAC and in the other middling Leagues.

RE: Round 2 - NIU vs EMU predictions
Baylor just lost the Big 12 championship game. It was their fourth tournament game in four days.
Providence won the Big East title game upsetting Creighton. It was their third tournament game in three days.
UCLA upset Arizona for the Pac-12 championship. It was UCLA's third game in three days.
Tourney Schedules
ACC March 12-16
SEC March 12-16
Big 10 March 13-16
Missouri Valley March 6-9
American March 12-15
Big East March 12-15
WAC March 13-15
C-USA March 11-15
The Mid-American Conference: March 10-15
The only people happy with the way any conference stages its tournament is the TV people (ESPN, CBS, NBC, Fox). If you want to debate byes that's one thing, but there's just no getting around a conference tournament requires some amount of fitness, survival, and luck.

Four games in four days is one thing 6 games in 8 days is an entirely other thing
