Geezbus... Wow that hurts my very soul.. My old Highschool Football team averages as much as half the conference and we generally are 3rd or fourth in our 4 team district.

Temple, how the heck does your attendance slip during the Conference portion of the schedule?

Being 9-21 during the regular season is probably a pretty good explanation for why attendance was down.

Yeah but they show up for some MAC and Patriot league games in the preseason but not for Houston and Cincy? Heck at some point you just go to see how good the other teams are..

They didn't know that early in the season how off Temple would be this season (thus why those early games had higher attendances). Attendance seemed to decline as fans came to the realization that Temple would not be in the post-season.

It’s been said a million times, Philly fans couldn't care less about checking out the other teams if the Owls aren't good. Philly is a pro sports town with the Sixers and Flyers, and has 6 D1 college basketball programs within 15 miles of each other.

A perfect illustration is the Big 5 Games
Temple vs Penn 8722 at the Palestra (sell out)
Temple vs St Joes at Temple 8039
Temple vs LaSalle at the Palestra 8722 (sell out)
Temple vs Villanova at Temple 10,206 (sell out)

If the games mean something, like the Big 5 games, or Temple is good, the fans will show up.

Temple won't stay down...simple as that.

RE: Final AAC Conf Basketball Hoop Attendance Rankings
All SMU could do is go up to 7,000, since that is the capacity of Moody Coliseum. And they won't play conference teams at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Having said that, SMU will probably do 1 OOC game a year at the AAC. . . Not to be confused with the "other" AAC

The tournament could be at the AAC next year, or is there someplace already picked? Then I could make all the Tiger games. Dallas around spring break time is nice.

I am curious, does anyone know the capacity of the home arenas of the teams? Also, do some people play more than a couple games somewhere other than their home arena?

UCONN splits its home games between 10,167 capacity Gampel (on-campus), 16,294 capacity XL Center (off-campus in Hartford), and 10,000 capacity Webster Bank Arena (off-campus in Bridgeport).

Breakdown: 10 games Gampel, 9 games XL Center, 1 game Webster Bank Arena

Tulane drew a whooping 1,900 fans at there last home game. Enough said. The league will suffer because no one cares about The Wave

I've always thought it was cool how UConn was basically a traveling act in their state.

Exactly, hosting Villanova and St. Joes is a bigger deal than outside people will understand. Sure some of it was declining due to record but those two games were huge draws and Louisville was a horrible draw at home due to a postponement blizzard.

Aw it hurts your soul. You guys were winning titles before we had a team. Future is here. You've already seen it in football. Hoops will eventually follow.
