This thread is pointless really. You seem smart enough to realize our program measures success by conference championships and ncaa tournament wins.

Or am I giving you too much credit?

Interesting really, cause this time last year some fans measured our program by the number of top 25 wins. Conference championships didn't seem to matter at all. Hmmmm

Their argument constantly changed but their agenda doesn't.

Agenda? What does that mean. Does our program not measure success by conference championships and ncaa tournament wins? That measure is irrespective of who the coach is.

I would hope all fans agree on that.

EDIT: ok I see what's going on now. Funny.

Newbie's first ever post in November. Funny.

They do change their names, though.

Chris Lowery took SIU to three straight NCAAs in his 1st three years. His third year he took SIU (at age 34) to the S16.

Does this "prove" Lowery was a better coach than Pastner or Donovan? Of course not, just like throwing out the nonsense T25 records.

Speaking of silly comparisons and nonsense; you are the only person on the planet that trotted out points per 30 minutes, as a measure of how deserving a player is to have their jersey retired. Funny.

Thread closed, not b/c it's a bad debate, but b/c it's debated badly.

yes we do. who do you think wins? who has the better players? and finally who has the better coach??

I say Larry but you are home with stronger players
I think we will win tomorrow. but yes Larry is better. I wonder how many here will admit he is better?

Talk about a key game? Why would we do that?

Pastner is solid coach, Larry Brown is a legend and AAC COY. No contest and that is NOT a diss on Pastner. Only Pitino in the AAC has the stature to compare to Larry Brown. Only a handful do nationally. Larry Brown is a tough, tough standard.

This is the rub. A fair percentage of the time, it's not the 'trolls' that cause the issues, but the over sensitive 'positive' posters.

If you don't like someone's opinion, then persuade, discuss, or ignore. I see little debate on the intelligent points above (and there are a few) and a lot of BS. If you are on a discussion forum, the goal is to discuss, not belittle, call out, bludgeon, etc.

The zeal and single-mindedness that both the extreme Pastner bashers and defenders seem to bring to the table is mind-blowing and it confounds me how people both can't grant the credit where due while acknowledging the shortcomings that are there.

I'd say, without doubt, that some posters are 100% more concerned with shouting about being right than actually being right. It's a behavior that completely confuses me.

No. People on this board are very invested in the performance of the program they have supported for years. They just differ on what the proper steps are to take to ensure future success.

In any event; the thread more than served its purpose.

Stop. Just stop. Loser posters? Come on.

I reckon that this is an argument that can be made.
