So I hope he plays on a pretty good AAU team like Garber. Second, It's not how you start the season it's how you finish it, Ask Campbell. I'm sure in a couple years Coach K could move to Drake, or Bradley.

RE: Austin Davis
He's sure not going to the B1G from Toledo. MVC is a step up from the MAC in basketball. Maybe he could get an Atlantic 10 or Conference USA job if won the MAC tournament or went to the NCAA tournament like Geno Ford. But, this isn't football Illinois isn't going to hire a coach with limited success in the Horizon league or MAC. Coach K has to figure out how to get his team to play consistent or an early exit from the MAC tourney and a NIT game could be all that's offered.

RE: Austin Davis
well. Illinois did just hire a coach on limited success in the mac. groce was very good in the conf tourney and ncaa but not that great in mac or occ play.

I've said all along that coach k would someday prob take a bigger job. I think people misunderstand his trajectory though. he made a smart move going to Toledo. he knew uwgb is a tough job. it's not in a region with a lot of great talent. and the better Wisconsin programs, Wisconsin and Marquette get the local talent and interest of the Chicago area kids. the horizon is a decent conference with a similar level of play to the mac, but the mac has a few historically more potent programs. Toledo is well located for recruiting. has great facilities and athletic support. it's a solid academic institution with history and other strong sports programs. he can build a bit of regional mid major power in Toledo. that's his goal. I think once he does that he will get some good offers and will move on if the fit is right. Maybe he can do that after next year. maybe its 5 or 6 years down the line, but coach k knows what a good Midwest basketball job looks like. there aren't a lot of great jobs in coach k's stomping grounds expected to open next year. but if he gets a couple ncaa tournament appearances and wins he can write his ticket when they do come free.

Went to the UWGB vs Oakland game last Thursday. GB is a very good team. This is not one of Oaklands best teams. They led by 12 at half and UWGB put it on them in the second half. GB would win the MAC hands down. Very athletic team with good size. They have a 7 footer who hit 3 treys and a couple of dunks.
I agree that GB is not a high profile location but their conference is better than the MAC IMHO. I am in the camp who thinks TK will be here a while even if he turns it around big time. Get the feeling he will stay until he has maxed our potential...wins in the MAC MBB C and NCAA nods then maybe leave. At least that is what I am hoping and sensing.

I have been impressed with how good Green Bay has been since Coach K left them. Don't try to read anything into my comment--I like Coach K. For whatever reasons, Green Bay has done fine without him--win/win.
