This kid was present at the Ball State game yesterday. He is a 6-10 sophmore, who just turned in a 51 point, 24 rebound performance last week for Onsted Mich. HS.
He would be a nice 7 foot addition to the Rocket b-ball program in the future. Seemed to be having a nice time walking around Savage.

Or for whatever school Coach K is working for. 05-stirthepot

Kid is a Nathan Booth Clone.
Here is the take on him from a MSU recruiting board.

Austin Davis 6-10 So Onsted
Knows how to play, cashing in on a season of 17U experience with the Southern Michigan Lightning. Legit post at 6-9, 235. Did a good job of establishing deep post position. May have to improve athletically, but has size and feel for the game going for him. Could be the top prospect for the 5 spot in the soph class.

"Methodical, but got the job done," a coach said. "He'd go right to the block and put work in."

"Plays big!," said another. A true post with a nice game with his back to the basket. Had the best "seal" of any big man at the camp and maybe in the state for that matter. He sits down in the paint with a wide base and offers a big target with hands always up calling for the ball. Could really cause problems in a 4-out-1-in set if you aren't going to bring help. Finishes with both hands around the hoop. Rebounds very strong on both ends. Needs to develop his mid-post game for when he faces defenders that he can't simply overpower. Loved his motor, he played hard all day long."
Rivals reports that Michigan is interested in Austin Davis.
Am hearing that Toledo is the first school to offer. You never know, establish that good relationship early, with the chance to step in when Nathan Booth graduates. Only downside would be if Coach K would recruit him away, if he would in fact, move on to greener pa$ture$.
His moves are walks

Harvey Knuckles.
My question at 3:40 became...how did they find two 6'9" kids in Onsted, Michigan?

There are 2 6'9" kids @ Ottawa Hills, why not Onsted?
For those that don't know Onsted, Michigan is located west of Adrian in Lenawee County. It plays in the same conference (LCAA) as Blissfield (coached by former Rocket Johnny V.), Dundee, Ida, and Mason (my Alma Mater in Erie) right over the state line. We will have plenty of chances to watch him in the next couple of years.
Like his hands and touch. Guessing he be working on his 6 to 8 inch elevation

Coach K isn't going anywhere bigger the UT, based on current performance. The kid doesn't want to go to Division 3

However, based on taking a 4win team to 23-27 wins in spite of harsh limitations will get him some looks.
first off Onsted plays about the same competition as Vanlue (Garber's HS),
So I hope he plays on a pretty good AAU team like Garber. Second, It's not how you start the season it's how you finish it, Ask Campbell. I'm sure in a couple years Coach K could move to Drake, or Bradley.

Yep. And when you finish it with 23-27 wins you get some looks. And not from Drake or Bradley.

the schools from the Missouri Valley pay their coaches about $1 Million a year. Basketball is King in that conference.

It's easier from a financial standpoint for the MVC to pay their coaches big $$$ when being FCS level (60 scholarships) they can funnel more into basketball and other sports. Their stadiums with their football attendance is not even on a par with the MAC. As a matter of fact, half of the Valley does not even have football.
