I have a android stick.
It looks like a USB thumbdrive on steroids.
Connects to your HDMI port on your tv..and basically turns it into a ginormous tablet. I got the dual core model...although quad core models are all the rage.
Prices are dropping rapidly.
You can get a quad core model for about 60-70 bucks now.
Some of these are more powerful than their tablet counterparts.

Using a Nexus 10 that my wife bought for me Christmas 2012. I resisted using it at first as I was quite satisfied with the iPad. But once I started using the Nexus 10 I put my iPad down for good. Like another poster stated, the iPad has better quality and selection of educational apps for children, but the Android apps are good enough.

Apple products are like crack. I hate the thought of being an Apple fanboy but I'm a couple grand into the ecosystem and can't look back.
