So, a few final thoughts now that we're back home...
- Even though the stats say we found success on the PP, we still didn't look great. Way too much time spent trying to set up for the perfect shot and not enough getting the puck on net. We've seriously got to fix that, and soon.
- Awesome energy right off the bat. Those first two goals sucked every ounce of life out of the building.
- We were resting on our lead a bit too much, especially in the 3rd. I was fearing another third period collapse and had a feeling Miami would score at least one more, which they did. Thankfully that seemed to kick us back into gear and we played pretty good D over the last few minutes.
------------
Random thoughts...
- Mac & Joe's has some delicious bar food (great wings and mac+cheese bites) along with a nice selection of Bell's on tap. We had a Cream Stout, Amber, and Two Hearted. Yum!
- Saw a police chase on the way home; wasn't really high speed but a car was being trailed by 4 cop cars on OH-73, which were followed by 2 more about a half mile behind the first pack. So, yeah, that's a first for me.

Could you identify if it was a referee in the car or was it just a linesman?
You could tell Murray's Broncos have really got under Miami's skin. Before the game, Barber being interviewed and he say , ya we just need to play WMU the way they play us.
Fast forward to a close up later in the game, Barber goes to the bench and slams his stick on the boards, sitting down and hangs his head down low, clearly frustrated.
Then later in the game, Miami gets a power opportunity and one of their players takes a stupid after whistle high hit on a WMU player. Camera pans to Enrico and he says something, just shaking his head.
We are really in this teams head. Their season is spinning out of control, especially considering all the early season expectations. They are really, really pressing
If we can come out strong in the first like we did last night, Miami will self-destruct.

Exactly. Miami right now reminds me of our team late last year. We were better than our record and we consequently put too much pressure on ourselves. It's hard to perform when you have that tight of a grip on your stick.

Good point, and it reminds me of something I forgot to say in my recap...
In the second period (ish) last night, I turned to my wife and said, "Coach Murray always says he wants us to be a team that's miserable to play against; we look very much like that team tonight."
We've got plenty to work on (cough, PP and penalties, cough) but we also have much to be proud of. This team works hard. Keep it up and good things should come our way.
Forgot to mention one more thing about Goggin... they have real nice logos for all the teams on the pillars on both sides of the arena.
There are 12 spots (which I assume used to house logos for all the CCHA teams) that are filled with the 8 NCHC teams; the remaining 4 are the NCHC shield. Looks really good.

Must be an NCHC thing, we have the same around Lawson

Ah, good to know. We still haven't been able to make it up to Kzoo for a game this year!
