Can't believe UT is giving up a home game. I know they are trying to re-establish themselves in their own state but this doesn't make much sense.

It's weird specificly when you consider how much smaller LP Field is compared to Neyland. UAB fans be prepared for expensive tickets!

Tennessee is canceling a H&H series with UCONN to play UAB in Nashville 2015 and VA TECH at Bristol in 2016. They won't be giving up a home game in 2015. They'll have 7 in Knoxville and 1 in Nashville.

Ticket price crossed my mind. I know they haven't been selling out Neyland but LP holds less than 70K.

Who is the 7th? They have Oklahoma and North Texas at home plus four SEC games.

Tennessee season ticket sales roughly average about what LP seats in total. If they sold out UAB with single game tickets they would be giving up $3.3 million in ticket sales plus what probably amounts to another $2 million in other revenues generated at each game. So, the Nashville Sports Council is going to have to cough up roughly $5 million just to get UT to break even. This is all about recruiting. With Nashville and the mid-state area growing leaps and bounds (and thus growth in the number of DI high school prospects) this is about establishing a consistent presence in middle Tennessee.

I'll go on the record and state that we have not done a good job of taking advantage of Tennessee's misfortunes. We still have perception problems created by our tenure in the Sun Belt. And again our name doesn't help either.

Congrats to UAB for pulling off a huge off-season win!

I think MT will benefit from Franklin's departure though, hard to imagine another person maintaining his success at Vandy.

Yep, as just one example last year we had one of those all too hard to find DT's committed and Franklin got him to flip at the 11th hour. They moved the kid to the OL and he's been starting for Vandy.

Dunno. They haven't announced it yet.

I'm looking forward to the game. 2 of our last 3 against the Vols were 1 possession games. All 4 previous match ups had been in Knoxville.

UT 17-10 in 2005
UT 32-29 2OT in 2010 (UAB missed 5 FGs, though some were quite long)

RE: 2015 UAB and Tennessee game moved to Nashville
Now, the full picture is coming together.

If anyone doesn't think that Tennessee is now concerned with Vandy and maybe even a little concerned about our growth at MT I would say this confirms it.

No way this is coincidence. Well, I don't believe in coincidences.

But as a college football fan this could be a great day for a double header if there is at least an effort to avoid scheduling them at the same time.

SEC vs. C-USA in the mid-state. Mark your calendars folks. It's going to be a fun day.

UAB fans, PLEASE come to Nashville for the game. PLEASE have a good-sized away section. I hate UT with a passion and I would like nothing more than to see them lose and for UAB to have a great showing.

Probably has something to do with the athletics department being $200m in the hole.

How far is MTSU from LP field and do you think the games would be schedule offset to catch both?
