Exclamation How do you rate/grade your class?
When looking at who you expect to sign and who did sign compared to the rest of the conference how happy are you with your class and how would you grade it on the standard A-F grading scale?

RE: How do you rate/grade your class?
I give our JUCO CLass we signed in Dec. a B+-WE added 9 Jucos and out of that group a WR who will start Day 1 more than likely along with a LB and a corner who will start.....

Our class we signed today I will give it an A-, We signed 15 players today and to be ranked 2nd overall in CUSA is pretty nice right out of the chute...Love the fact we have 10 out of 15 signees from the state of Kentucky and included in that group is 2 or 3 speedsters who will help our overall team speed greatly...ALso we still covered the state of ALabama which is huge Imo as we have seemed to switch our recruiting focus now on getting into the state of Alabama vs. recruiting Florida...I hope we still recruit FLorida but I know Alabama is very underrated with their high school footballl players....One Final note is many think of Kentucky being a basketall only state..Last few seaons Kentucky high school talent has really been trending up and has continued to get better and better with 10 legit Div. 1 players now we signed from the state and they are impressive...

Our top recruits signed today would be WR-Nacarios Fant-Overall Mr. Football in Kentucky; RB-D'Andre Ferby-Mr. Football in Tenn.-Class II; C-Dennis Edwards-19th best center in the nation; Ath DeAndre Farris.

I give ODU's recruiting class an A. They addressed all of our major needs, and added both size and speed. This class was ranked 2nd in CUSA by 247. Throw in Parade HS All America at qb in Shuler Bentley and I'm very happy!

For WKU's first C-USA class, I'd say we did pretty well---B+ to A-....top 3 in the conference!

RE: How do you rate/grade your class?
Larry Coker and staff did amazing. Probably our best recruiting year so far. It was a small class due to the amount of SRs we have but every commit has a chance to make an impact.

Addressed some needs.

OT - 6'6 320
Last year we started a guy 6'2 260

CB - 4.3 speed
Our secondary got torched the first half of the season.

Overall B+ with an A for grey shirts and PWOs.

Under very trying circumstances, I would give UAB a "C-"...Our new head football coach, Bill Clark, has been working without a net, if you will, attempting to salvage the damage done to the program by Garrick McGee in the very short time he's been on board.

Our class was about a B-. Every recruit is solid, and a few are stellar. Here are a few of the jewels of the class:

WR Tee Goree

RB/Ath Willie Ivery

QB/Ath Caleb Chumley

Goree is a beast. He's got all conference written all over him.

I am not all up and up on recruiting, but from the buzz... it seems like this class is the best so far. Instead of relying on diamonds in the rough, lots more kids that were sought after by other programs, even BCS. And a lot of this was done last minute since Partridge was brought on during the "no contact" period.

GO OWLS!!!

RE: How do you rate/grade your class?
I'd give Middle's class a B+.

We filled all of our needs (which were relatively few) with mid-term JUCOs, and added a couple of nice pieces. We had a pretty stocked depth chart just about everywhere, so there wasn't a whole lot of PT to offer in very many spots.

I like being in CUSA - we went up against alot of low end BCS schools and CUSA/MAC types. We won a few, lost a few. But usually in the SBC we were battling other SBC schools and FCS types.

I gave it a B+ because it's a little low on the star power. Not that it means that much, but usually we land 2-3 big time guys, and I just don't see that in this class. I figure the overall quality of the class is one of the best we've had, even if we're a little lighter on the couple of really high end talents that we usually get.

We're still waiting on 2, including a 3 star CB.

I think I saw that you all singed Quincy Perdue. If that is true you all got a good one. I wanted him bad but after he committed for some reason our staff decided to part ways. Not sure why. Most likely room and being crowded at WR but I really liked his film.

Agreed. I would have given it an A if we wouldn't have lost the kid to Mizzou, and flipped The Gator

RE: How do you rate/grade your class?
I'll give our class a solid B. Especially when you consider the turmoil of last year losing our all-world recruiter/head coach to Bama and a 1-11 record. Ron Turner put together a heckuva class with a bunch of o-lineman, QB's and DB's.

Marshall clearly won the race this year (I think everyone wants to be in on your chase for BCS-Buster or Play-off party-crasher or what have you) but you can throw a blanket over classes 2-9.

I'm really looking forward to the Spring so we can see our new crop of offensive lineman; It'll be like christmas day.

I would agree. I think our standouts would be:

QB -Blake Bogenschutz
WR -Kerry Thomas
S -Nate Gaines
TE -Cameron Oliver
DB -Stanley Dye

RE: How do you rate/grade your class?
I would give our class a B. The class is a mix of good and bad. I'm not badmouthing Coach Mac but the lack of ability to bring in DL players with decent offer sheets is puzzling. That is my only area of concern. An incredible haul at the skill positions this offense will be rolling in a couple years. We have two LB commits I'm not sold on, luckily neither of them will have to see the field next season. We signed a JUCO QB & LB and to be honest I don't know what to expect from these two, JUCO players are hard to predict. Quality over quantity for the OL as we only signed one but he had a nice offer sheet as well. Only one DB in this class who should be a redshirt.

Positives:
-Signed 5 players out of East Texas (all skill position guys) and have established a pipeline in that neck of the woods
-Signed a player of Samoan descent out of the Metroplex. A bunch of these guys end up signing out of state every year but there is a huge Samoan population in the DFW and it would be nice to keep more of them in state
-Won some battles we have not won before, truly making progress here
-Hung on to all of our verbals except one who flipped at the beginning of January so we weren't left scrambling

Negatives
-Only two DL players who's only other offers were TSU & Utah State respectively
-LB commits are undersized
-Signed a JUCO QB & LB but not a DE or DT when we graduated 3.5 starters at DL

All of these grades should be incomplete. You don't know how you did until at least the next football season. That being said, La Tech had a great class, all 21 signed. We got some good DL and OL which was needed the most. Picked up a 4.5 6'3" linebacker and some big receivers. We have the full 25 scholarships available and we are signing only 21 is the only thing I can gripe about.

We now have some competition at QB. Higgins better up his game or Price or Woodall will be starting next year.

Holtz got a F for coaching but the recruiting is much better.

When's the last time someone went back two years to grade a recruiting class? Usually by then all anyone cares about are wins and losses. So to be technical, I guess you could blame last year on our previous head coach; but who's got time for that.

I would give our class a "B". It is not as flashy as some, but we filled needs, and picked up some players who look exciting. We also signed all 21, and have not heard about any who might not qualify. So, I feel pretty good about the class.
